i, uh, just ordered an awesome pair of doc martens. i probably shouldn't have, but i'm going to be walking to and from work all winter, and my shoes are either not tall enough or not moistureproof enough to help me avoid wet legs from short-girl pants dragging in rain and snow. ...plus, there were only two pairs left in my size.

I've never owned a pair but I hear Docs are supposed to be very comfortable and supportive.  That being said it's good to indulge your feet once in a while since they do so much for you.

But then I don't know what your shoe-buying habits are like.

Since when did a girl ever need to justify buying shoes?

If you have flat feet, Docs are great, because they tend not to have arch support. I can't wear them- I have high arches. Birkenstocks, on the other hand, have realllllly high arches and they're fabulous for my feet.
