Apparently there's a study been done (isn't there always?) .. which recommends that teachers use colours other that red to mark students work. Apparently red is 'an angry colour' and I'm guessing this is thought to cause negative feelings regarding their work in the minds of students ( Read more... )

We could sell a range of pens, with a variety of meanings..

this colour for encouraging.. this one for praise.. this one for an offtopic, but well thought out point.

I suggest a "Voluntary Discipline Day" where a group of adults go around various schools with the disciplinary tools of our day - rulers, belts, jug cords, wooden spoons, etc. - and during recesses and lunchtimes just go wild on all the children.

And the red pen thing? Somebody needs to hold these people who do "studies" down and write "RETARD" on their head with thick permanent RED marker and then judge their reactions.

there's an idea.. it could be like a Careers Day or Historical Appreciation Day.

"To honour those students who've come before you, we are allowing the current student body to participate in a demonstration of old fashioned disciplinary measures"

but what colour can you use?

Red - angry colour
Blue - to associated with depression
Black - no that's another depressing colour
