(And another note is that I'm sorry that I don't reply to comments so much. xD I'm generally a very lazy, lazy person)
So first week of uni! How's that for fun. Finally had my first class for English Writing today so I can give a full opinion on my classes this term, which I'll be bitching about until April.
World Lit: Eternity, Modernity, and Culture: This is probably going to be one of my favorite classes this term--I'm positive of it. My professor is an all around great guy and my opinion didn't change even after having him last term for the previous World Lit class. It's still pretty early for my brain to fully function, so studying about the readings are a bit hefty. FORTUNATELY, though, the readings are more modern since we're finally closing in to 20th/21st century. Which, despite my absolute love for pre-modernism literature, is really really awesome.
Intermediate Chinese II: We have a slightly larger class (we're now seven instead of six!) so we're looking forward to what the prof throws at us this term. So far, we're actually learning a good number of characters and words just by singing. Personally, I think he has an ulterior motive to this. Still, the prof is an awesome person who has the patience of a saint to deal with a few people in the class.
Roman Art and Archaeology: Despite my misgivings about the Greek Art and Archaeology class, this one is actually more interesting to listen to. He seems to know the material better and the textbook (TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS. jfc) is more relevant to what he's teaching us
Although the test and quiz formats will be the same.
Crap.
Survey of English Lit: 1660-1900: By far my favorite class. Not only because the subject matter is actually English literature, but also because we have a very opinionated prof (although he's rather funny). Especially towards Milton. It's going to be a really interesting class to say the least. Apparently, we'll be reading Oscar Wilde at the end of the term and some hefty poetry for the coming week.
Oh boy.
Intro to Poetry and Drama: Much to my surprise, my least favorite class. It's not that I don't like poetry. In fact, I think it's pretty okay and a medium that I've never really tried writing except for that one little time. The exercises are rather dull and forces me to jut out ideas on the spot and within allotted times without any outreach of the sorts, which is actually pretty difficult for me. Not only that, but it's just...dull. I mean, yes the content is interesting and we're actually doing work for once, but there's no real motivation for it. There's also some moments where I feel like the prof is pulling a Jarman and just telling stuff that she thinks is interesting rather than having something really insightful about it that we could apply to our own writing.
That went on longer than I though. o-o; Whoops.
