I can understand a certain 'modesty' causing a woman to oppose 'topfree', but how the fuck can even one single woman oppose breastfeeding??

Some women think it's gross. I suspect that many of these same women have body issues, and probably think other parts of the female anatomy are gross, as well. Just a guess, though.

i agree with nebris though i'd include men in the "how can any person be against breastfeeding?" saddest that it was the men and women in their 20s and 30s who had the aversion since they are the ones most likely to need to make these choices for any kids they may have.
of course it is possible that every age group would have approximately the same percentage against breastfeeding since the data is weighted towards this younger end due to the peer group who participated in the survey. wonder how the data would look with larger number of participants and an equal number of folks from each decade.
thanks for sharing.

I believe that the question was about breastfeeding in public, not just breastfeeding.

Thee was a resurgence in body shame in the late-80s and 90s, that would be the time period that those people would have grown up. Kids stopped changing in school locker rooms, public urination disorder hit the news, privacy walls were installed between urinals. It was the era of Reagan and the religious right.

Us old farts grew up in the 60s through the early 80s when the body wasn't so evil. The younger kids have have grown up with access to lots of nudity on the internet, so a lot of them find it more acceptable. So I think there is a real possibility that there would be a bit of a bump in body shame of those two age categories.
