Q: OMG! Where is are the theme?!
A: Don't worry, the theme set is right here. There is only one theme set at the moment.
Q: Do I have to use all new icons or can we recycle some of our old ones?
A: All have to be new, otherwise this wouldn't be such a challenge!
Q: Can I use other characters in the icons?
A: Of course, just remember to focus on the character of your claim. Don't make an icon with him/her blurry in the background, but of course you can make "pairing" icons that shows off another character just as much as your claimed one.
Q: Can I make multiple claims at the same time?
A: Sure. Remember that you still only have 3 months to finish all 200 or 300 (etc) icons.
Q: If I have the same claim at another community can I post icons I make for that here as well?
A: Nope, and no entering contests with them either.
Q: I'm fairly HTML retarted, is there maybe a tutorial to the table everyone seems to be using that makes everything look so neat?
A: Absolutely, just go here and get the code :).
Q: If I drop my claim and then find I have time in a couple of months to complete it, can I reclaim?
A: No, you can not reclaim, but if you do ask, I can let you resume. But you will still have to state the date you started the first time, so that people will see you actually took an entire year (or something) to finish.
Q: Are variations allowed?
A: I don't want you to use the same cap and just crop a wee bit different and colour the same. Very different crops and colourings please. Of course you can use the same colouring or style for several icons. But if you want to use the same cap, make sure the icons are very different from each other.
Q: Do we have until midnight on our deadline-day?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I use promo pictures?
A: Yeah ofcourse :). They are still of the character after all :)
Q: Can I use fanart?
A: Yes, but make sure you have the artist's permission.
Q: Can I mix mediums when it comes to picture sources?
A: Yes. You can use caps from tv/movies as well as stills from games, scanned comics or book covers, pictures of toys... it's up to you. As long as they feature the character of your claim.
Q: Can I use pictures of my claimed character but not really them?
A: The answer is yes, you can use such pictures. Robot versions, alternate reality versions, right mind - wrong body (maybe not even humanoid!), right body - wrong mind, characters as children, characters turned into light or dust or stone... and anything else you can come up with. You're really claiming a name. And those rare occasions where there has been sort of identity theft? Sure, use those too.
Q: What do I do if the character I want to claim shows up in multiple shows and/or movies?
A: If you pick a character that has been both in the tv series and movie(s) you can use caps from both (like lets say, Daniel Jackson from Stargate. Even if he isn't played by the same actor in the original movie).
If your chosen character guest stars in episodes of spin offs, feel free to use that too (if the guest appearance is brief there's no need to include the "other show" in Topic, i.e. Teal'c showing up in an episode of Stargate Atlantis).
But if your character has a big role in multiple shows, put all those shows in Topic (i.e. Sam Carter in both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis)... Of course this all is if you intend to use caps from multiple shows. If you for example just want to use Carter from her SG-1 days, just write SG-1 in Topic.
