Neatly tied up

I promised I wouldn't post these, but this one I can't resist. I just had one of those "only in Japan" moments. Tomorrow is recycling collection day. On the pavement just near my apartment is a neatly tied up bundle of porn, about a foot high.

Whyever would you make such a silly promise?

Ah, well, I promised it to myself more than anyone else. The web is peppered with journals going on about superficial Japanese stuff, goggling at Japanese foibles. And the Japanese themselves love this stuff, as I explained in an earlier posting. I'm not sure I want to encourage more of it.

So, I'm trying to save my journal for significant insights, or stuff actually to do with me. Here's a list of things I don't want to talk about: pornography, futons, tatami mats, chopsticks, fugu, sushi, hot springs, public baths, bowing, schoolgirls, Shibuya, etc. etc. (I expect you get the idea.) I might talk about some of these things if I think I have something significant, useful, or new to say about them. For example, see this article on how to walk in crowds.

BTW, nice use of "whyever".
