I would do myself a favour if I didn't log in DA too often. Why? Because in DA I keenly watch a great amount of artists and They're All Better Than Me
( Read more... )
I know how you feel @_@ I get like that sometimes on DA too, but I'm finally starting to pull out of that habit ^_^ *glomp* I think your art is awesome, if that means anything x3 so much better than mine.
Honey... Don't be sad over such things. Unfortunate as it is the world is a cruel place which operates on the basic rule of 'there's always someone better than me'. This rule is a curse, but at the same time it is a blessing. Because, when we look at how other people can draw so much better than ourselves, or write so much better than ourselves, then we'll have the urge to outsmart them, we'll strive to be better until we can succeed. In some cases this struggle is futile as hell is hot, but what does it really matter? As long as one keeps trying and trains to perfect one's skills, then isn't there a possibility that someday we'll be a lot better. I mean this all in a good friendly way.
This kinda reminds me of the quote you have in Zac's signature. Artists are seldom content people... How did it go again? Anyway, for me DA was an eye-opening experience. I used to think that I was pretty darn good at drawing and that all the truly talented artists were way over... somewhere else. Like some magical creatures in a fairytale. But in DA they post their stuff as casually as everyone else. Seeing it for the first time felt like being smacked in the face with a sock filled with wet sand. My god, these people really exist!
I hope I'll eventually get over this whole "from hybris to debris" -phase. You do have a point in what you said, I must agree. =P
Awh! Now you made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Thank you for your kind words, Pipkin-dear. I feel encouraged! I do love my characters... And frankly - I'm better at Photoshop than Rembrandt ever was! *snicker* ^3^

But I guess it's safe to say that we're both good in our own way in the stuff we do. ^.^ *glompage*
