"He was such a nice, quiet man"

For the most part, this trip to Germany was much better then previous ones. I had company (a colleague from work) the whole time I was there, and he got permission to rent a car, so we could go some places. We went out to restaurants instead of ordering room service and staying in the hotel the whole time, and our stuff was in a much better state ( Read more... )

Ah, now I understand! bobquasit November 12 2003, 13:43:57 UTC
Okay, now I understand why you don't use your real name here. I suspect that if your bosses read this, they'd be...less than pleased, since they certainly seem to be idiots. Do they even realize how much grief you've been put through?

And please tell me that they're not taking away your excess vacation days, since it's totally their fault that you haven't been able to use them!

By the way, Sebastian was asking for you (and Virgil) pretty often this weekend.

I'm getting all nervous about my business trip next week...hoping it isn't as nasty as yours, although Kansas City might not be as scary as Germany. :D

I just generally don't like to have my real name in too many places on the internet. Real names lead to phone numbers and addresses and I'd rather avoid that since all the nutcases in the world have potential access to the internet.

The fact that my work probably won't find this journal is just a bonus.

What's the deal with Kansas City? You haven't mentioned that to me before. Business trips are usually not as stressful as mine are on this project (I have travelled for business on other projects). However, they are usally dull, and involve little fun.

Restricting your personal information is wise, of course. I wish I'd been a little more circumspect with my email address all along, particularly since it's my (real) name. I'm getting upwards of 200 spams on some days. POPfile has been a lifesaver, but all that email still has to be downloaded before it can be marked as spam ( ... )

Make sure to take copious notes while you are being trained. Maybe even record the sessions. This sounds like stuff where if you forget it it could be a problem.

They won't let you rent a car when you go out there? That sucks. :(

I'm sorry about Sebastian, but I'm sure he will get better about it. You go to work every day and he deals with it ok, right?

I forgot to say "Happy Birthday!". Which is particularly embarrassing, because I got a pop-up notification on Friday (I think) from LiveJournal notifying me about it. I meant to write to you then, too, but I was just insanely busy...seems like every time I'm about to go on vacation (I took Monday off), everyone in the world needs a massive project done right away. *Sigh*

When I get back from KC, let's get together for a cookout.

Ehhh, don't worry about it. I tend to be bad with other people's birthdays too. A cookout might work. I already have plans for thanksgiving, but maybe we could get together the day after thanksgiving if you have it off? You could come to my place if you prefer.

I have two days off for Thanksgiving, but I'm not exactly sure what's going on. I think we're doing something with Teri's family on Thanksgiving; maybe I could do a Thanksgiving cookout the next day, or something. We might even get Lois to come up, although I don't know about that.

Coming up is a little problematic. Our cars are not the most reliable. Sebastian has become pretty good about the commuter rail (he's been demanding to come with me on "Daddy train" every morning, in fact), but he's still scared of underground trains. We'll be working on that, though; I want my boy to be able to wander the city with me.

Well, if you do decide to do the day after thanksgiving cookout, let me know. AS for bringing Sebastian up on the train and subway, well, the subway is kind of scary. If you take him a couple of times he will probably get used to it, but I can see why he would be upset.

ZOMG UR BACK! :) I tried e-mailing you once while you were gone but it bounced and I was too stupid to figure out why.

And happy belated birthday!

I tried sending it to archimedeslas@yahoo.com (that's probably not the correct spelling, but I have it correctly in my address book). Does that even work anymore?
