Creation of a Novel

I've jotted down part 1 of my world-creation steps. I now have a better idea of what kind of world the story will take place in. I am now stuck inbetween part 1 and 2. Rich (on his site www.giantitp.com) works on class decisions in part 2. I will be doing things different from here, as I am not yet entirely clear on how society works in my world. ( Read more... )

I am still in the process of determining what the Sun and Moon will stand for in my setting. So far, I've already concluded I want 16 deities in it, in couples consisting of a God and a Goddess. One of these couples are Sol and Luna, the roman deities that are the embodiment of the sun and the moon.

I don't want the moon to stand for evil, because the Moon(and night) do stand for something good as well. It gives people the chance to rest from a hard day's work.

So perhaps I will use the Sun to stand for farming, any trade, and pretty much normal jobs and stuff - and the Moon to stand for magic, divination, and things that are less simple... Don't know and haven't really decided yet.

What I do like is the idea that Sun people and Moon people have discovered they cannot live without each other and that they had to find a way to live together. I'll probably integrate that in the empire's history.

Will keep you updated on this....
