[Break peers into the screen, appearing to be talking to himself.]
What a charming little device this is…I wonder what it does?
[He is unaware, in fact, that it is a communications device, so…Feel free to surprise him a bit!]
what is this seriously,

So... Has someone explained the basics to you yet?

[:/]
... Ugh, don't even joke. Like I'm naive enough to trust total strangers. And besides, how old do you think you are, pulling a face like that?
[Oi, don't use our own flawed logic against us. :/]
Oi, don't group me with those idiots- Hey! ... I'm just especially good at keeping it clean, okay?
[>_> FFFF lame, Rita. Lame.]
Reply
Time distortions, attacks by Chains, and, of course, the ever present worry of never getting back to the proper dimension.
[Smiles.]
But if you would like to risk that, you are certainly free to study the Abyss.
[He chuckles.]
Ah, well~ I have no reason to lie to you, no~?
[We're ignoring that age question now, kthx.]
Mm? Everyone besides you is an idiot? That is rather pretentious, is it not?
[He chuckles. Yes, that was rather lame.]
But you just flat out told me that you have never cleaned it, or done any cleaning of any sort when speaking of closets in any way~.
Reply
[Yeah, you would ignore that question. :/]
I'm not being pretentious. It's the truth. And besides, I said that I'm good at keeping it clean, not cleaning it. There's a difference in semantics. And stop trying to twist my words, dammit!

In general...
[And he smirks]
The only way to get into the Abyss is to be dragged, kicking and screaming, in by a Chain.
Pleasant, no~?
[And he laughs a little.]
Why, then, are you wasting your time speaking with such idiots? I would think one so much more intelligent than all the rest would not bother with such wasteful conversation.
[Irony. So thick it hurts.]
Ah...But semantics do not always change the meaning, and in this case~ Mm, keeping something clean implies cleaning it.
Reply
... I was hoping for a more coherent explanation. That doesn't tell me anything at all. Beyond... it doesn't sound like you want to be there, really.
It's a must, if I want to gather information about this place. After all, they may be idiots, but they've got information that they're too idiotic to use. I can make much better use of what they know, might as well make them cough it up.
And you need to think outside of the box, old man. It's simple. You just have to keep the skeletons from, you know, getting in the closet in the first place. Cleaning implies that the skeletons are already inside. The only sure victory is a pre-emptive one.
Reply
I can assure you, you do not wish to be there.
[Siiiigh.]
Very well. Am I to assume that you do not know anything about the Abyss or about Chains?
[Smirks. He does the exact same thing.]
Fair enough~!
Ah...And since you are clearly not normal, you have no skeletons in your closet, is that what you are trying to say?
[He's unwrapping a sucker now and sticking it in his mouth.]
Reply
... You should have 'assumed' that a long time ago, you know? We're from different worlds, literally. Things like that don't transcend dimensions.
[She pauses.]
Yeah, that's a weird thing I've noticed, actually. Each world has some kind of an element that doesn't seem to exist in other words. For you, it might be this Abyss thing. Interesting...
[She's spluttering now. :/]
That's- Yes, but- I mean, no! Arg! Stop- Just... drop it already!
Reply
I have found that it does not pay to assume that one is less intelligent, or knows less, than they do. Underestimating someone can cause such a mess, after all~!
[He pauses, then shakes his head. Tee hee, you're so silly Rita.]
But of course. If all of our worlds contained the same elements, could we honestly call them different~?
But very well; I shall enlighten you. The Abyss is, as I'm sure you've gathered, an alternate dimension. Chains, creatures that live by feasting on humans, live there. These Chains cannot normally leave the Abyss, however, to come into my world, but sometimes...Sometimes they find a hapless human willing to make a deal, and then they seal a contract with that human. They can then not only leave the Abyss, they can also feast on the humans living, mostly peacefully, in my world.
Mm...It is quite the bother, you see.
[Chuckles at her spluttering. One point for Break. 8D]
Reply
... That's just you, then. Unless they're going to prove that they're not as idiotic as they look, I've got no reason to think of them as relatively intelligent.
[But hmm... That's very interesting. These Chains sound sentient, which is always a good topic of discussion. It also has a bit of a supernatural element that she's uncomfortable with. Still, though, she's glad for the information, though it'll be like pulling teeth for her to show some gratitude. :/]
Good question. But... that's, pretty interesting, actually. And the reason humans accept the contract is because these chains can do something for the people, isn't it. Like, grant a power, or grant a wish, or something, I'm going to guess. How do they contact humans if they can't leave their dimension, though? Are there lapses in the dividing force between your dimensions?
... Is there anyone from your world here that studies these phenomenons?
Reply
Ah...I have certainly met people who are far smarter than their appearance suggests. But you are quite right, perhaps that is just me~
[And you know that he'll be expecting something in return for this information. Information is not free~]
Quite right~ The Chains promise their potential contractors the ability to change the past, you see. They seem to have the ability to pick out the people who are unhappy with the way their lives have turned.
And yes, there are, although we are uncertain how, exactly. At times, however, the dividing path between the two dimensions weakens, and then they can get through...And humans can also go into the Abyss. But you cannot get back out again, when you are in.
[And he laughs. That's funny.]
Yes, indeed.
Reply
... Whatever.
[Do you take visa? She'll hand over her soul for information. 8D If you get her started on Blastia, though, you'll never hear the end of it, Break dear. :/ I'm serious. I'm certain she's published books.]
Knew it. I suppose they must have some kind of supernatural sense, then, to detect stuff like that. Maybe an organ, actually, that detects- If only there were one here, I'd totally take it apart.
Though, really, I don't believe it. If you can get it, there's obviously going to be a way to get out. That's only logical. Besides, the chains seem to get out pretty regularly. I think that all it's going to take, is a chain latching onto the person, and pulling them both back to your dimension. An adhesion effect. There's no such thing as the impossible.
Who studies this? Think I can get in contact with them?
Reply
Mm~
[xD He'll take it. Nah, he'll just be sure to call in the favor right when he needs it. Uh oh...Best avoid that topic, then. xDD]
Indeed? Well, I certainly wish you fun with that experiment~
[And he has taken apart more chains than he can think of, but he's usually not inspecting them afterwards. :| ]
Well, well, very clever, Rita dear~! You are quite right! However...The only way to convince a Chain to help you out would be to make a contract with it, no~? And then...Well, then you are certainly in trouble.
[Chuckles.]
I do believe you already have~
Reply
What other effects are there, then? Does it give you any special powers, or anything like that? It doesn't sound very feasible to change the past either, but... I've seen all kinds since coming here. Not too surprised anymore at that, really-
... Wait, you?
[You can see the gears in her brain clicking away.]
... You wanna compare notes sometime?
Reply
Mm...Well, the Chains certainly can fight. And they do have some interest in protecting their hosts.
However...When your time is up...You, and your Chain, are dragged into the deepest levels of the Abyss, and you shall never be able to return.
Which is why it is some trouble, you see~
[A slight pause. His voice is rather quiet here.]
I assure you, one can change the past.
[He chuckles.]
Indeed, me~! I am a member of Pandora; we do study the Abyss, but we also must deal with illegal contractors, for, as I'm sure you can imagine, the deaths of hundreds of people is always a bit of a concern~.
[He raises an eyebrow, but...Information.]
I see no reason why not.
Reply
[She hears it. Yeah, skeletons, all right. She doesn't feel like dragging them out just yet, but. :/ It's uncanny how most of the people have such packed closets.]
That is troublesome, I guess.
And I should have expected a whole organizationd dedicated to studying this sort of stuff. Maybe not you, of all people, but I don't know you all too well, really. But with 'illegal contractors'... I didn't know there was a legal way of contracting those things.
[-Le perk- Awesome, another informational source. She loves these exchanges, since it's always so educational. 8D]
Great. I still need to compile my data into something legible, but once I'm done, I'll give you a call on the dreamberry, okay?
