OOC: Character survey of doom
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? He's 168 cm tall, and his weight is 54kg so he's somewhat skinny. Fit, but not muscular.
2. How old is he? 14 at the start of the manga when he comes to Japan, 16 at end of the future arch (that's the version I'm playing).
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? Slouching, hands in his pockets, often accompanied by a nasty glare in order to appear more intimidating.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Fit. Smokes a lot, but it doesn't seem to bother him much at this point in time at least. Faints/suffers from stomach cramps if he catches a glimpse of his older half-sister.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? Casual. Tense and alert if he suspects some sort of danger.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? I think he's somewhat content with his looks, but he'd definitely like to grow a bit taller. Most of the girls at his school seems to find him attractive even though he usually just ignores them.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Light; he's Italian (1/4th Japanese).
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. Silver/gray. Soft. To his shoulders, sometimes kept in a ponytail.
9. What color are his eyes? Green.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? Can't think of any.
11. What are his chief tension centers? Stomach ache?
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? Most of his clothes are black and punk-ish, and he likes skull-related motives. He also owns some suits.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? They're rather tight most of the time, and he usually wears more than one layer of clothing so it's easier to conceal his dynamites (ex. tight shirt + a more loose-fitting sweater or jacket).
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? He usually wear normal clothes, but he puts on a suit if the situation calls for it.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Boxers.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Somewhat deep and rough, probably due to smoking so much.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? Loud and determined most of the time.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? He swears a lot.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? He speaks Italian and Japanese fluently, and he's pretty good in English too (I'm assuming the latter since Japanese people have English classes, and he is known to ace all his subjects).
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? This is mostly head-canon, but I imagine that he often switches to Italian if he's angry, and might end up cursing in three different languages if he's REALLY pissed.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? Both. He usually pretty blunt, but might be more careful with his wording in some circumstances.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? He's usually eloquent. Other's may find him hard to understand when he's trying to explain some complex problem since he doesn't take into consideration that the other part might not know as much as he does about the subject though.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Both. He's been living on his own since he was 8 years old so he surely have some street-smarts about him, but he's first and foremost a very book-ish guy; he's the type who always read the entire user-manual first before attempting to do anything with a new device. School is a breeze to him; Gokudera aces all his tests, and he's amazing at math-related subjects. He seems to have more difficulty with creative/art-related stuff, but he can apparently manage to pull that of too if he really wants to. Oh, and here's a nice example of his ''if you don't know the theory, you can't do jack!'' principle; teaching Tsuna how to swim
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He's prone to create grand plans in advance, but he often make up things on the fly too.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? He follows his own sense of logic which may differ from others at times... I'd say he's more idealistic than practical.
4. What kind of education has the character had? He had a multitude of private teachers until he ran away from home at the age of 8. He's currently attending Namimori School with Tsuna and the others even though he doesn't really pay much attention in class..
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? Mathematics, subjects concerning the mafia world, occult, explosives, paranormal.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Introvert; he prefers to keep people at a distance because he doesn't know if he can trust them or not due to countless rejections in the past. He's used to getting by on his own.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? He's usually pretty hot-tempered and cranky, and certainly quite driven when he wants something badly.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Definitely suspicious, or plain uninterested in some cases.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? Act I guess, but I'm tempted to go with react due to the countless reaction-panels and narrative comments in Reborn lately XP
10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Fight!
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? He seldom smiles genuinely or laughs unless he's in the presence of Tsuna, but when he does it's usually because someone else say or do something he considers stupid.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? I don't think so
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

14. What does he fear? Losing his boss/best-friend and Family, or being rejected by them because he isn't good enough.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations? Being a worthy Right-hand man to the Vongola Decimo!
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? His past. That he usually faints in the presence of his sister unless she covers her face.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. Bad. He believed that his father had killed his mother up until quite recently.. New evidence suggests otherwise, but he's still not completely sure, and his dad is still a jerk for allowing him to be poisoned on numerous occasions.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? He has a two year older half-sister called Bianchi (father side). She seems to care about him in her own way, but they still have a few issues to settle.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? Not that we know of.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Dr. Shamal seems to be the closest Gokudera comes to having a father-figure; he considers the doctor to be quite annoying, but he also respects the man a lot.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Tsuna! Gokudera has toned down his hero-worshiping quite a lot, but he still follows the other boy around like a loyal dog most of the time XD The half-Italian was actually trying to kill Tsuna the first time they met, but it ended up with Tsuna saving Gokudera's life instead.
6. Does he have other close friends? It seemed like he finally warmed up a bit to Yamamoto during the future arch, although he'll certainly never admit it; Gokudera regarded him more as a rival earlier. He's also starting to get along with the rest of the Family.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? Gokudera has been rejected many times in the past, and thus have problems with trusting people. He's trying to become better at it though, especially after Yamamoto's thundering speech about how a Right-hand man is supposed to unite his fellow Guardians, not shun them away.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? His friends sort of IS his family in Gokudera's case.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Single; his boss is always top priority so he doesn't have time for girls.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? No.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? I don't think he has had any, unless you count Tsuna XD Perhaps Shit.P in recent chapters? But it's probably more fascination because he thinks that she's an UMA..
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? Intelligence, dedication, someone he can trust?
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? No; he's not fond of children. He's improving though!
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? Many; he once announced that everyone older than him were an enemy XD I don't think there's any specific people who're out to get him in canon, but he often get into fights with local thugs though.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale? 1? His devotion to Tsuna is extreme, but I personally believe it's just hero-worshiping tendencies XD He certainly seem to blush and stuff around sexy ladies though.. Lal Mirch Shit.P
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? Being a teen, I assume he wanks of and stuff, but I don't think it's a big deal XP He always calls Shamal a pervert when he starts talking about such things.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? Don't know.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type? Virgo (9/9) actually suits him pretty well I think since he's quite driven and hard-working.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? Believes in occult stuff, like curses and stuff. May be Catholic since he's Italian?
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Doesn't like to hit girls because he considers them to be rather weak. He'll do anything to protect the people he cares about and fight for causes he believes in, even going so far as to die for them.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? Indifferent I guess.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? Mostly irrational. Girls are weak and stupid. All sport jocks are idiots.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Comfortable/somewhat poor? According to the Reborn! artbook Colore, he lives in an apartment and struggles to pay the rent.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? Son of a rich mafia Don -> Street boy -> Well-known street thug/mafia -> Self-declared Right-hand man of the Vongola Tenth -> Vongola Storm Guardian. He's quite proud of his current positions.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? He lives alone in a apartment.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? Cigarettes, probably new bling like rings/bracelets, and apparently gifts for Tsuna XD
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? He's mafia, Guardian and self-appointed Right-hand man, and he's quite dedicated to his job to say the least.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Reading about nerdy things, helping Tsuna and Yamamoto with their homework, maybe playing the piano.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? He seems to live on cup-noodles mostly, unless Yamamoto or Tsuna invites him over to their place for dinner. He loves sushi.
