Looking for BtVS clips

May 30, 2013 14:12

So, putting together another sci fi service and I'm looking for clips that look at family and community, Some I've been able to find on-line, but I'm after:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Family 5.06, Tara belongs with her family, not her ‘blood kin’: DVD 35:37-36:34

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Checkpoint 5.12, Buffy needs her team: DVD 40:20-48

Buffy ( Read more... )

sci fi service, church weirdness, vids, church of latter day geeks

Psst. Actually I only made the last one for ya. Some other lovely vidder helped with the first one.

Another idea, if you don't have it already, would be Rory and Amy setting the table at Christmas every year in case The Doctor shows up.

When is your sermon due? I'm not sure how much time I have available at the moment, as life is a bit up and down, but if it's not an immediate thing I may be able to get something together. ;)

Edit: I don't own Buffy, but I'm happy to ask in a few vidding comms for the clips if you still need them.

Now, who did make the one that first year? Oh, I remember - a lovely young film maker who has now been funded to make a documentary on child abuse for the ABC and who has just become a father. Yeah, no chance of him being free this year ( ... )

Oh I like the Spiderman scene- one of my favourites. Not sure about the BSG one, but it's your show. :)

Happy to have a go, but I can't promise anything as I'll likely head up to your end of town to visit the new niece in a couple of weeks time, so you might need a backup plan. If you have the clips you want used in mind, I can have a think this week and a concerted effort at gathering some clips for a vid. I think I'd do it quite differently to last time... I have ideas. *scary*

Hey maybe I could attend if I'm in town at the right time. :)

Have you ever seen "The Shadow"? There's a great scene where he telepathically calls on Margot Lane for help and she comes running. Or Arrow is good. The lead keeps trying to keep everyone at a distance and yet they keep pulling him back in and showing him he needs people. Good theme! :D

PS. I'm sure I ask you this every time: how can you not have awesome female-role-model Buffy? :-)I watched Buffy on TV as it aired and loved it, but it's always been expensive on DVD and I was never ( ... )

Niece definitely comes before vidding! The BSG has been suggested by another member of the congregation, so if you do a vid and your muse doesn't like it, don't use it - you won't be offending me. ;-)

I haven't seen The Shadow or Arrow. I should check them out. But both sound good.

I can post you up Buffy dvds, as I think I did last year, if you can't find those clips in a vidding community. I trust you with my precious Buffy.

The only other things I thinking about are something from Harry Potter, something from Stargate, and maybe part of this from LOTR: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed-EgpprMZk

Cool! I have asked about the Buffy clips, but I likely won't hear back for a while. I don't have Superman Returns either, but I do have Superman the Movie (which I haven't watched since I was a kid). If there's something in there that would fit the bill, I can see if it'll rip.

EDIT: Also which DW bits were you thinking of? I haven't rewatched any for a while, so I'm feeling a tad clueless.

Well, for me the Doctor is still David Tennant, so I was thinking some of the clips around the Stolen Earth and Journey's End (the last two eps of Season 4) when a whole lot of people come together to get the earth back and end up all driving the TARDIS together; and the 'Doctor, Doctor, Doctor' scene from Last of the Time Lords (3.13) when everyone in the world says 'Docto' at the same time.

The baby had an unsettled night last night and everyone was frustrated and tired this morning, so I've been hanging out here in an attempt at being a good aunty... and didn't get to the service. Sorry! I hope it all went smoothly.

If you want to do coffee some time (other than Monday) this week, just let me know. It's an interesting ways out to yours from here (3 trains I believe), so maybe we could make a time I plan to get there and I could call you when I'm close. That way I can't be waaaay late like last time if I mess up my train times. Or if you're busy, that's ok too. There's always next time, but it'd be nice to catch up if we can coordinate it.

Being a good aunty is definitely more important, but if you'd come you would have been able to appreciate the round of applause your video got. It went really well, and people laughed in the right places. A couple of ministers came up to me afterwards and talked about doing Sci Fi Services of their own and I said I'd be happy to franchise the service; they'd just need to findt vidders of their own because I wasn't sharing mine ( ... )

No worries. I was a bit sad not to get to see, but there may be other chances. I'm very glad it went across so well. I had fun making it. I'm sure too there will be more chances for coffee. I hope to visit now this year as i love seeing the kids grow. Sounds like you have a very full week ahead of you. I hope you're muscle heals quickly. Congrats on a successful sermon. :-)

If any other ministers want to use this vid please feel free to pass it along. But only if you want to. ;)

Cheers. Catch you next time.

Yeah, not a chance! I'm selfishly going to keep you as my personal vidder!

Except a lovely colleague did ask if she could use the vid for her children's talk this week and I said yes because she's very nice and I like her. ;-)
