There's so much work to do, so many books to read and lot of tasks to complete but it feels great! Studying philology isn't easy  but it's interesting. Though  I doubt that some of things that are in ( Read more... )

The Celts were awesome. (Boadicea <3)

And what does your compulsory reading list look like? Starting with Beowulf as usual? Good, old times...

And don't worry, you get so used to speaking English that you eventually start to think in English at some point.

Woman equal to men - my fav part. And druids seem to be so mystical and interesting.

Compulsory reading list? This semester I have Classical Literature, my dear.

I still feel like me basic knowledge of English grammar suck. I feel stupid *headdesk*

Oh, yes, I loved that about the Celts.

As in, Homer, Vergil, Sophocles and so on? o_O Well, that's... a bit surprising. I guess it just works differently at different universities. ;) We started out EngLit classes with Beowulf and our AmLit classes with the Puritans, and we came back to Greeks and Romans very briefly during out Poetry and Poetics classes in the first year and Drama course later on.

Oh, don't worry, I remember being intimidated and insecure about my knowledge, too, but it's not like there are going to be only academic prodigies stuck in your group; people struggle sometimes in the beginning, but then they get the hang of it. It gets easier. ;)

Classical Literature we have in Lithuanian. Next year will get to the fun stuff - English literature. As far as I know we'll be reading some articles and books about language, linguistic and all that shit on Academic Reading classes this year. Ah, it seems to me that I won't have a lot of time to read for pleasure. Philology is not an easy subject to study, oh, Imma iz complaning, but honestly speaking I like it even though there's a lot of work :>

Thank you for kind words, I feel better *hugs* With everyday things get better and hearing, writing and speaking English doesn't sound as strange as it did in the beginning :D

ah, your student life sounds really awesome ♥ I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it that much! cool group, erasmus students, interesting lectures. nothing to complain about, huh? :) and I'm sort of envious (in a good way, though) since I'm all nervous and not-that-excited about uni TT
