Home again, Home again, Jiggity Jig.

Last night after being away for so long, and sleeping in so many varied places, my bed felt strange to me, and to get to sleep I had to pretend it was a bed in a room a friend of mine had loaned me to sleep in ( Read more... )

Welcome home! We missed you. I read your travel blog while at the Cape, and that's how we found out about Jen and Cole's baby. Thanks for that. Can't wait to see you and catch up on all your travel stories.

Thanks again for the welcome home.
For the rest of July, and for August, I have Monday nights free, so could you again tell me the details of when and where knitting occurs, as I have two scarves to finish.

I spent all Sunday hibernating, and made it through work today, and came home utterly depressed. I'm looking forward to new adventures, but it is so lonely without you and all our buddies we got to see along the way. Must go hunt up some local friends for a hug...

Please tell me you remembered to pocket some of the magic to save for later? That's what I did, and wrapped it around a rock I bought in a store that I meditated in on Haight Ashbury.
It helps.
However I did have the benefit of holding Bean this evening, which is a wholely and entirely different type of magic in it's own right.
SO you have to go searching through your stuff for extra left over magic. My guess is you will find it on stuff you had out at Dave's, because he's covered in it, but also try stuff from any of our other friends as well.
And YES by all means get hugs from friends, and play with animals.

There is something about having an experience like that. Everyday on your trip has been about the trip everyone around you on the trip is sharing the experience people interact with you in a way that adds to the shared experience then suddenly you are back to the grind and surrounded by people that aren't sharing your experience...

This is what I wrote...
"This was the first time that I was getting out of the car as a resident of the town. My CA plates didn't matter no one was going to ask me what I had seen, how long it had taken, was it amazing? I ordered my bagel "a long island bagel toasted with cream cheese" and I wanted to add "the last eight days of my life have been consumed by driving cross country" but instead the words came out "oh and can I get a large ice coffee with Vanilla?""

I think it is because on a trip you value the experience of being with other people, and in everyday life people forget to do that.
People become desensitized as to what amazing creatures those around them are, and they forget how to really share space, instead moving in their own bubble worlds with waving emotions, and veering thoughts, bouncing off or missing entirely those around them. They do the same with the wonders of the natural world as well.

Sometimes it's safer that way, but you give up a lot.
