 Oh bbs.

Lots to talk about.  New Doctor Who.  What's got two thumbs and got to watch the Series 5 premiere of Doctor Who on BBC 1?  THIS GUY.

Jeez Louise, I really miss David Tennant.  It seems like everyone's hating on him lately, but like my pal Linsey says -- haters to the left.  Tennant was my favorite and he'll continue to be.  I like how sad ( Read more... )

I like how sad he was because that also meant when he was happy, he was really happy. And I love how fast he talked when he'd get excited.

me too! i'm going to miss everything about him. even his emo-ness, which hit extreme levels toward the end of run. i like 11 so far but i don't think he'll ever take the place of Tennant in my heart. :)

oh those are great pics!

Yeah, he did get super emotional towards the end there. But I think he was just tired of losing people. Haters to the left, I liked that he was happy with Rose and it broke my heart that she was trapped. And come on, it had to be hard to leave her again. Sure one of him got to be with her forever, but the real Doctor had to watch her go off with someone else, doesn't matter that old dude looked exactly like him, the man that walked off with Rose wasn't our Doctor and that had to be hard to watch her do. And his BFF Donna either had to die or leave him too. And that was just as hard to watch as it was to watch him tell Rose goodbye. Also, his death was prophesied to him and as we saw, he didn't want to die. I think I'd get moody after all that shit too. But he was Ten and part of what made him what he was was his moodiness. Eleven will never take Ten's place. Ten is my Doctor.

1. I miss Tennant, too. A lot. I loved Eccleston, but Tennant is such and amazing actor and Ten was such a strong character presence. He's my Doctor. I do like that Eleven seems to have a few similar idiosyncracies as well as some of his own, though. It's not such a huge change like the step from Byronic-hero-y Nine to spastic and multi-layered Ten.

2. What do you think of Amy Pond? I like her attitude. She's feisty and smart, which is awesome. Also, baby-Amelia was the cutest little Scottish child ever! I'm not sure if I like the sexual/romantic tension they are already building between them, though. It sort of got old after Rose, and then Martha having such a whiny little schoolgirl crush. Donna has been my favourite companion so far because with her, it was just like they were BFFs traveling about and being awesome. There wasn't all that baggage. Plus, did they really need to give her a stupid/ridiculous boyfriend-fiance-whatever? Do we really need Mickey Smith 2.0 ( ... )

Ten is my Doctor too. I don't think anyone can compare to him in my mind, no matter how much I might like any other actors in the role. To me, that's just what The Doctor should be like. I've warmed to Eleven, but I really hope that Smith makes the character his own and not try to imitate Tennant because no one can do Tennant unless that person IS Tennant. I would really hate to see Smith just end up doing what amounts to a bad impression because that would totally destroy things for me. The beauty of The Doctor's regeneration ability is that every actor who portrays him next can completely reinvent him and I'm really hoping that Smith is able to do this and do it well ( ... )

I think I'll miss Tennant, but I can't help but feel that 10 wasn't really 10 anymore. The very last two specials, when the Master came back, and the timelords, and all of that? (I forget the names.) That really just ruined 10 for me. His personality with the guns, and just, all of it, was so OCC, I really couldn't stand it. I'll miss Tennant, but I think 10 was done for. I also think 10 knew this. When the radiation was in that room with Wilf-- why didn't he just go to the TARDIS, get Jack, come back, and put him in the room? If I thought of that, I know that 10 did. I think he knew, deep down, that it was his time to go. Even though this was one of the first times he ever had to face his mortality, I liked that part. I just didn't like how they made him OCC about it- it could have been done beautifully, but RTD had lost his touch quite a while ago.

I miss Tennant and Ten a lot. Tennant is just such a great actor, he brought so much passion and life to The Doctor. Yeah, he was a bit emo, but that was what I loved about him. I loved how much he loved humans and would do anything to help them, which was so opposite from Nine who constantly berated and mistrusted them. Don't get me wrong, I really liked Nine, but he was so short lived that we never really got the chance to get to know him. But Ten...I just miss him. His personality did get a bit squiffy there at the end and it was very noticeable to the audience. I mean, that whole Waters of Mars stuff -- where he saved Adelaide even though he knew it would change the course of history for the worse was devastating to me. Yeah, it was sad that she had to die, but it would have brought about the best change for humanity and he knew that. Sounds shitty, but one life for millions...? Come on, Doctor -- and you're the man who destroyed your whole planet and people just to make sure the Daleks were finished ( ... )
