LJ again? Why not!

Nov 15, 2020 12:41

Looks like I will have to bring LJ back into my daily routine.  Maybe even pay Photobucket a bit for photos... or (gasp) pay LJ again...  not sure.

I've retired and moved back to NJ.. yep, I'm 65 years old. Being a pastor was fun and interesting and creative and rewarding, but somehow the Trump years have brought out the dramatic, with pastors being ( Read more... )

Welcome back! I'm plodding along, never having stopped posting or giving up on Live Journal. There are people still posting, but it's more common for people to read ... Congratulations on retirement. I did so in 2017, but went back to work part time in 2018-2019. I'm working part time now in the building where I live. I hope you stick around!

In the words of the fabulous Tina... "What's Love Got To Do With It?"

Have you checked out Flickr? Jawnie and I (well mostly me now that he's back to work) hang out a bit on there.

Sounds to me like you're struggling to look for more hobbies besides staying up until 3am setting up websites.

Well, setting up the website was fun!!
And yes, I need even more things on my to-do list

I guess Flickr needs to be joined somehow.

Yes, as Neil says, more people read than post. Have you considered cross-posting to Dreamwidth? There are a lot of accounts on there too. People migrated when LJ had some security problems--so some people are in both camps, and some only in just one.

I would love to hear more about your perspective on being a Minister--I presume not a Trump-supporting Minister:)--in these difficult times. No wonder you were ready to retire as soon as you reached 65.

I guess I need to learn about Dreamwidth... but one more platform!

OK, I did write about becoming a minister... so why not also look back on my career?

Hope all is well,
Charlie

All is about as well as one can expect during a pandemic! I am still working, in principle, but my employer has put me on furlough. I still get paid, which is good--but the future is uncertain.

Meanwhile, I am trying to figure out what to do with my time. In some ways, this is a preview of retirement. In other ways, it is a descent into meaninglessness.

Everyone is something of an existentialist these days, I think!

Yes, I would be very interested to hear more about what you think Ministry accomplishes, what it satisfies, etc. etc.

I am a blogger here and I am also Midlifebear at Dreamwidth.org

You've... retired!!!! Oh my!

I did not know this... Congratulations!!!

So no longer in Norfolk, VA (or one of the other places you seem to have popped up in!!!). You shall have to send me your new address.... Is it actually your own home, that you own?

Will you travel more, once restrictions are lifted?

And do you think being a Pastor (and moving around) has made it difficult to connect with someone with the possibility of dating and/or more? A good looking lovely man like yourself should NOT be single!
