I slept too much today...

much much too much.
My day off.

But I did get up and go see The Jungle Book in 3d.

It was beautifully done... the animals were fantastic, the rain effective.. the avalanche seemed real.

And the plot is still rather silly.
Everything punched up for Hollywood..

But I enjoyed it, thanks.

I'm working on a talk Sunday... called "The Archer's Bow" with the subject of Parenting and growing up. I'm using an ethnographic study of Richmond California, where children living in different economic situations were followed to see what they do, how they talk and how their lives were organized by others ( Read more... )

That weekend in New England...
Had a good time visiting relatives and friends.
more news later, maybe...

The day was perfect. We walked to Deal Lake, then the entire length of the boardwalk, then back to Main St... a loop of about 5K.

I knew nobody, but that's ok. I chatted with a few babies and a dog or two.

And walked at a good pace. Good for me, good for the center!

Today I joined a group of about 100 on a walk around the local state park.
I was surprised at how easily I fell into the role of interpreter, explainer, inquirer, celebrationist.
I met lots of folks, and a good time (and exercise) was had by all.
