I'm always torn between a vindicated 'told you so!' and abject horror whenever Republicans express views like this.

if they're so antsy about having a muslim in the house (one muslim! out of 435!) who is a natural born U.S. citizen, send him--and everyone who wrote to him about this--with the next batch of troops to baghdad.

I'm rather proud, however, that the first Muslim congressman is out of good old MN. Unfortunately, this sort of thing is actually not a US-only phenomena. Here in Germany, teachers aren't allowed to wear headscarves while they teach, which works legally, because they don't have freedom of expression in the same form as the US does (which is how they can ban nazis, etc), but it's a big hullaballoo over here because of that. yeah. [/sharing time]
