Death and other fleeting things.

Today started kind of shitty for me when I found out that Fortress Games is closing.
Fortress was a huge part of making me who I am from just after it opened. I played my first game of D&D at that store. It's where I first picked up Legend of the Five Rings, a game I still play fanatically to this day. I consider the owner and many of the regulars ( Read more... )

fuck al franken in his stupid ass. he's hilarious as a comedian and political commentator, but he should stick to his strengths and stay the fuck out of minnesota politics. (also, politically, he's too much of a "democrats are better than everyone" fathead, and this is coming from me. takes one to know one, after all, and this will make him a lot of enemies just by virtue of partisanship before he ever hits the office.)

besides, didn't we learn our lesson once about electing celebrities?

Oh, I love you, M-Dog.

I also feel morally obligated to tell anyone who speaks positively of Al Franken that.... he was mean to my former roomie. And granted that's not a reason to not vote for him, but Matt was interviewing him for a news article and Franken was apparently mean, full of himself, and condescending.

I's got loyalties, yo. So my vote is no.

Since I'm probably the only Minnesota voter who reads this, I should say something.

First of all, I've never heard of Al Franken. I'm too young, after all. Second, he hasn't lived in MN since his childhood. That makes me scared to vote for him because he really wouldn't be familiar with MN's issues. Things have changed a lot in this state since the 70's after all.
However, it's only February of 2007, so the election's a long way off. If he has a good view on the issues, and I think congress would take him seriously, I would consider voting for him. Sometime's it's nice not to elect some slimy politician for once. The only bad thing about electing Jesse in '98 was that he couldn't really get anything done. He didn't have those politician skills, but then again, governors have a hard time with that.

In other words, I'll be waiting to see what he (and everyone else) says on the issues, then I'll decide.

He does strike me as both too divisive to win many moderates, and a little too...flamboyant for your average Minnesotan's tastes.

It's a moot point, since I can't vote for him, but I agree with his stance on a lot of things.

(Incidentally, both the other people that commented here could vote in that election...)
