Cake Or Death? I CHOOSE CAKE.

Bekki is not very good at most anything domestic - for the most part, her culinary skills typically go about as far as a grilled cheese sandwich or microwavable pizza - but she's always had a way with frosting.  In high school her friends would have cookie parties around Christmastime, and she'd be banished until every last cookie was out of the oven and ready to be frosted, at which point she'd work her beautiful magic, turning the gingerbread and sugar-cookie people into not only Christmas figures like Mr. and Mrs. Claus but the casts of entire films or stage plays: one year it was the entire cast of Rent, the next year each dancer in A Chorus Line.

When someone's birthday rolls around, she's always the one insisting on celebrations.  She's always the one begging with co-conspirators to plan surprises.  And she's always the one who frosts the cake.  She gets told she's so cute with frosting all over her fingertips, often little dabs on her nose that are placed there by whoever decides to wander in the room while she's working her magic and can't resist.  Any cake she touches turns into a work of art and she likes it that way.
