She stands on the fire escape of her apartment. Her iPod is plugged into her ears, and some gloomy playlist is turned down low. It’s early morning, the sun’s coming up - she’s not usually awake now, but she couldn’t sleep.
“It wouldn’t be that hard, would it.”
She looks down, staring at the pavement ten stories below her. She runs a hand through her hair. It’d be as easy as climbing over the railing and letting go. Poof. People do it every day.
“B? You out there?” Her roommate calling through the window.
She’s not that gutsy or stupid, anyway.
