It's summer again! Vacation for some, blazing heat for others, but in this neck of the woods that means it's time for the third 100 Drabbles of Summer challenge!
We've had several comments expressing interest, so we're happy to announce it's back for another year. To those of you who haven't been around for it before, the Drabbles of Summer challenge is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: write one hundred drabbles (a drabble being a hundred-word short story, no more and no less) featuring your character(s), over the course of one hundred days.
As the summer progresses, we usually post 'check-ins' where you can share your progress and read the drabbles of others. At the end of summer, everyone shares their collected drabbles, and those who successfully completed all 100 are in the running for a ~prize~. Fancy!
Sound fun? Then sign up by commenting to this post!
The Dates
100 Drabbles of Summer (2012) will run from June 1st until September 8th.
The Rules/FAQ
Can I use drabbles I've already written? Nope! The goal is to write a total of 10,000 fresh, new, exciting words over the course of the summer. Drabbles written outside the activity's dates are not eligible. Nice try, though, you cheaters!
What happens if I don't finish? Rabid were-weasels come to your home and gnaw on your entrails. And you're not eligible for the prizes at the end, but really, that's pretty much it.
Can I co-write my drabbles with someone else? Not for this contest and eligiblity therein, no.
Do all my drabbles have to be about the same character? Nope! You can mix and match them to whatever muses drive you.
Can I use Thursday drabble prompt answers towards my total? Yes-- if they are written within the dates specified.
The Prompts
Following last year's format, 55 of the prompts given will be words or phrases; 25 are images, and 20 are Author's Choice. For those of you who get stuck on Author's Choice, there are numerous websites and programs out there that will generate words for you-- here's
one!
Step one: Copy the code from either the table format text area below, or from the text only list if you prefer. Post this to your OWN journal.
Step two: Write a drabble. Repeat ninety-nine times.
Step three: Post the drabbles as comments to your drabble entry, or anywhere else you like, excepting Charloft itself. Drabbles written for the 100 Drabbles should not be posted to the community directly (unless they are also Thursday drabbles), just because if they are, it's a LOT OF POSTS and the community gets flooded with them.
Step four: Post your weekly progress to our drabble round-ups.
Step Five: PROFIT!
