this all or nothing kind of mentality drives me nuts. so many people seem to give up on things entirely if it doesn't fit their world view, or suit them in the manner they were expecting. it seems like a waste... and i realise that it's only their loss... but i guess i don't like seeing other people waste something that could be of value to them. i ( Read more... )

Heh, I made the selfsame argument to my father about the usefulness, the increased potential, involved in having access to social networking aids like livejournal and the rest. There are all kinds of different ways one can make use of any of them, and the real tragedy is in the people that fail to keep up the rest of their life and social world in place of anything, be it facebook, video games, internet porn, or what have you.

Obviously such persons must be exterminated!

i dunno if they should be exterminated... that's bit extreme.

Naturally, if you get the job, you'll need to post pictures of yourself in the uniform. :)

I agree with what you said about social networking sites. It means you can maintain some level of awareness of people that you would otherwise never hear from or know anything of again, ever. Rather you get to know if they're doing something cool, or whatever. You can voice your support for what they have to say, or whatnot. Few crossed paths run parallel, and to expect a major friendshsip commitment from everybody is unrealistic.

example - sometimes I enjoy reading what you write, and sometimes I comment; without Livejournal, the only times we would communicate is the rare occasion that we're both hanging out with our mutual friends (which is very rare indeed), and I would have no way to congratulate you on receiving an interview package from the RCMP!

So, Congratulations. :D

thanks rick. and i enjoy reading your posts too. you've been all over the place in the last year or so, so it's been pretty neat to read all about that. and the rejected reindeer names too. :)

good luck with the RCMP. if they do punish you by sending you to regina, i'll come visit. it's only an 8 hour drive!
