Chapter Ten - Msscribe Returns

Jun 15, 2015 10:00

I should update you on some new developments. heidi8 has announced publicly that she has confirmed that Msscribe was Sporkify, and that Msscribe lied to her about that. Also, ari_o has emailed angua9 and given her a link to a website showing the name and phone number of the police officer that she says Msscribe told her was the person who investigated her case ( Read more... )

As a person who was not involved in this at all(probabaly because I read more slash nowadays), I can say that I am shocked that there are people that act this way, in order to have a bigger flist. The strange thing is that before I even came to LJ(so this was around 2001) I had read msscribe, and imogen and other H/Hr stories, and R/Hr stories. I didn't even know there was a ship war going on...I suppose that put a different spin on this story for me. Hell, I didn't even know the meaning of wank until last year when I got an LJ ( ... )

I have never, ever been to HP fandom or fanfic writing, but I've done my share of MUSH/MUX (online text roleplaying), and I recognize this type of personality (and they are DEPRESSINGLY common).

They show up. They spin a web of pals, their best online fuckbuddies, if you allow me to use coarse language for a moment -- but it is true, they often feature raunchy cybersex in order to pull in as many people as they can. Then backstabbings begin; lies, more lies, outrageous manipulation of opinion and then the manipulator leaves, often pulling a large playerbase with them, which may leave the MU* in ruins and tatters, with tarnished reputations.

One of these, well, creatures showed up to SWOFA (which is not a very nice place and has pretty much no rules at all, but it has a reputation about scathing criticism of issues related to MU*ing); she figured out that we'd descend on her chosen Evil Place like others did in this tale to GT ( ... )

I wonder if anyone still has RedVelvet's IP around? Maybe they're actually the same?

I checked; they do not match. It is an entertaining thought, nonetheless.

I read this on Journalfen after a friend on a MUX linked me to it from fandom_wank. I've been following the saga there and at bad_penny since then. You, Ms. Lennox, are truly fantastic. Thank you for completely engrossing a complete outsider, as despite my complete disinterest in the HP fandom (and in fandom in general), I was entirely sucked into the tale. Much kudos.

I'd be interested to see you unmask at some point, though I certainly understand why you'd like to hide behind a pseudonym at this juncture. Brava once again for a job well done, and a story well-crafted.

Move over The Da Vinci Code! What an amazing story. halfofone June 26 2006, 10:55:34 UTC
This was riveting - I have nothing to do with the HP fandom and yet I don't think I have read a more compelling piece of detective fiction in a long while. It has everything: love, hate, hubris, jealousy, flattery, multiple conspiracies, betrayal, cruelty, mob-rule, humiliation of the 'good' and 'great'. I don't think that list does it justice. And it leaves a worrying sense of unease - is it true or just another elaborate twist - how easily we are manipulated by someone who simply steps outside normal ethics.

Hi! I read all of this about a week ago over at bad_penny on JF, but I'm not allowed to comment there, so I thought I'd pop over here. This whole story was thoroughly engrossing and very informative for a comparative n00b like myself. If you ever decide to write a fandom expose again I will eagerly read it. You're like the Deep Throat/Woodward/Bernstein of fandom now.
