Oh dear. I'm afraid I'm very disappointed in our mouse detective. First, he stood me up by ignoring my invitation to give me hints in one of my screened journals to help me confirm his information. But perhaps that's understandable in view of what happened next. Deprived of "Clarabella's" alleged real name and any hints as to how I might find ( Read more... )

One thing I think is incredible is how persuasive she is. Reading her 2004 update, there's a part of me that keeps thinking . . . well, maybe she IS innocent. Despite the mountains of evidence here, despite popular opinion -- she's really skilled at planting a little seed of doubt in the back of her readers' minds; honestly, I can't imagine what it'd be like to regularly talk to such a talented manipulator, and I'm not at all surprised no one believe she was doing all the things she was. Even after reading all of this, there's a bit of me that still has trouble believing it, just because of how well she dissembles.

I am impressed by the depth and breadth of both your reasoning and research. It provides a fascinating glimpse into a part of the past I had no first hand experience of except for reading the Draco Trilogy back in... 2004 I think. I enjoyed it then but it hasn't held up. I had no idea this kind of thing was going on behind the scenes. Cheers for all your hard work.

2022... and I'd never heard of this at all until a friend sent me the link today. I'm not in HP fandom and never have been but this whole thing is just fascinating! And the way you've collected and presented all the evidence is engaging.

Thanks for writing this, I feel sorry for all the people involved who were either conned or had to put up with someone they knew was manipultative.

Do you think there's any chance of doing anything with this collection in the future? It would make a really interesting play or book.

This is an absolutely gorgeous project, and so many people in an out of the fandom owe you a sincere thanks for everything you and the other detectives have done; if you haven't written a book or thesis yet, you absolutely should consider it, because your ability to craft a narrative is incredible.

A couple questions, though. Well, really just one question with several different subjects: From this post I've been able to gather that Heidi, Aja, and Ari have all come forward to admit that they believe MsScribe duped them, and as far as I can tell have broken off ties with her. What about the rest of the Inner Circle? (Cassie Claire is of course the one I'm most curious about, especially since she provided evidence but also has moved beyond fandom into real-life Big Name Status, and was one of Scribe's most vehement defenders.) Do we know if Scribe's completely pulled away from the fandom, or does she still have a little circle of people who think we're all liars and haters?
