Would you prefer $15 BILLION of Illinois debt instead?
The fact of the matter remains that you just can't keep funding social programs forever without paying your bills, and Illinois is learning this the hard way, and taxes & fees are going up on everything and it really sucks. You have to balance your budget, which Democrats and those for social programs can't seem to fathom that cuts have to be made at some point & sacrifices have to be made. When your deep in debt, it hurts your state's bond standing and the ability to create projects & jobs and people have less money to spend, and nobody is going to want to create jobs here because taxes & are so high.
Like it or not, taxpayer funded professions, unions and pensions are draining the life out of a state.
