Groo: After Julie and Faith leave, I return to the house. I would like to discuss something with Edward. I go to his loft, knocking softly on the door.
Edward: "Yes?" I ask through the door as I was attempting for peace
Groo: "Mr. Lawrence, is this a bad time?" I ask, not wishing to disturb him if he is in the middle of something.
Edward: "Dear lord no" I say as I open the door. "Please come in." I say motioning to the couch
Groo: "Are you certain? I can return at a later time," I say, not yet entering his room.
Edward: "Would you stop being so bloody polite and sit down and tell me why you are here?" I say with a smile.
Groo: I blush slightly and enter his room. "I just wanted to speak with you," I say, taking a seat on his couch.
Edward: "Did something happen with Julie?"
Groo: "No, well, yes, but no. Nothing bad," I say softly. "I came to discuss our relationship with you, actually."
Edward: "What is it?" I asked suddenly confused and giving the if you hurt her i will draw and quarter you look.
Groo: I hold my hands up defensively. "I have been in this dimension for several years now and I have become familiar with some of the customs here. I simply wanted to discuss one of them with you."
Edward: I relax "Oh dear...so sorry" I say "What is it"
Groo: I let out a held breath. "I have become aware of a tradition about a man speaking to a father figure when they wish to propose marriage to a woman," I say quietly. I am uncertian how such a topic is broached.
Edward: "Yes, but I am not her father...nor her father figure."
Groo: "You are to me, as well as to her. You are the man she would have chosen as her father, had she been able," I say confidently.
Edward: "That may be, but I also think you should speak with her actual family" I say as I take a drink from the glass of whisky sitting on the table.
Groo: "Of course. But I wished to discuss it with you first. I love her, I wish to take her as my wife," I say.
Edward: "And you don't fear its too soon?" I ask curious
Groo: I look at him. "Is there an appropriate amount of time one should wait?"
Edward: "most wait longer than a week."
Groo: I look down at my hands. "I am sorry. I did not know it was inappropriate to express the want to spend your life with someone having only known them a short time. I have wasted your time," I say, standing.
Edward: I stand stopping him "No, that was not what I was saying."
Groo: I look up at him. "I do not understand," I say, confused.
Edward: "I simply want to be certain this is what you want. Also don't think you won't have a tougher reaction from Julie's actual family."
Groo: I pull the small box from my pocket, handing it to him. "I have never been more certain of anything in my entire existance."
Edward: I look at it in awe "You are quite sure."
Groo: I nod. "I am. Do you think I should not ask her?"
Edward: "I can't answer that. This is your decision. You must know it is right and that she as well as yourself are ready for such a change."
Groo: I open my mouth to answer, hearing the house phone ring. "It is likely Julie, she is shopping with Faith. I will return quickly," I say, walking out to the hallway. "Hello?"
Edward: I look confused but hear the phone ring so I nod watching him walk out. I start to pace the room...I am so worried he was rushing.
Groo: I look at the phone and shrug, hanging it up. I walk back to Mr. Lawrence's room, seeing him pacing. "Are you all right?"
Edward: "Oh yes, just thinking."
Groo: "May I ask what about?"
Edward: "You and Julie" I say honestly
Groo: "Ah. You are concerned about my proposition," I say.
Edward: "Yes...and I also feel you should speak to her family."
Groo: "You mean before I speak to her," I ask, clarifying.
Edward: "Yes"
Groo: "Are you afraid she will not accept?" I ask, having not considered that option.
Edward: "No, I am not sure what it is, but they deserve to talk to you , and threaten you first." I say small smile escaping
Groo: I look at him, catching the smile. "You are teasing me."
Edward: "About the threatening you, not so much, but you will survive it."
Groo: My eyes grow wide. "I have never had to encounter parents before. Should I be concerned?"
Edward: "Yes, very"
Groo: "Goodness. I may need some time to prepare for the trial then," I say, wondering what I may need to endure.
Edward: "Groo, you love her do you not?"
Groo: I look up at him. "More than my own breath."
Edward: "And you intend to spend the rest of your days with her? Right?"
Groo: "Definitely, as long as she agrees."
Edward: "And you never intend to hurt her?"
Groo: "Never, Mr. Lawrence, you should know this," I say, slightly offended.
Edward: "Which I knew Groo, I am only affirming my point." I say calming him
Groo: "Oh, I am sorry. What is your point?" I ask, obviously having missed it.
Edward: "Simply that you have nothing to fear other than idle threats"
Groo: "Oh," I say, blushing slightly. "I believe that makes sense."
Edward: I smile "See my point?"
Groo: I chuckle. "I believe I do. Thank you. I was concerned for a moment."
Edward: I chuckle "As I could tell." I say softly
Groo: "From the movies I have seen, your actions just now make you very much her father figure," I tease.
Edward: "Just you wait till you speak with Craig and Miranda"
Groo: "Oh my. I will need much valor, it seems."
Edward: "Just be honest" I say "And don't make promises you can't keep...you will do just fine. I can tell by looking at you that you mean what you say, however, they aren't as trusting as I am”
Groo: I nod. "Thank you," I say honestly. "I can assure you I will never deceive her nor anyone she loves."
Edward: "I know this..." I say "There is something I would like you to do for her though...."
Groo: I look up at him. "If it is within my power, I will. What is it?"
Edward: I hand him a map circled is a place in scotland "Take her here spend some time alone with her, take her site seeing, put the camera to use as well as showing her the things she has missed.
Groo: I look at the map, then back up at him. "Is this your homeland?"
Edward: "More so my home town...but I do wish for you to show her all of Scotland. Lodging would be provided for you throughout."
Groo: "Perhaps it is something you should share with her," I suggest.
Edward: I look at him "What do you mean?"
Groo: "If this is your homeland, would you not be the most qualified one to show it to her?" I ask.
Edward: "that is simply the problem" I whisper "I wish for her to have the tourist expierence...." That and I don't feel she would want for me to join her.
Groo: "I am confused. I do not think she would want to visit your homeland without you. It is something she could only share if you were with her."
Edward: "I think she would desire that yes."
Groo: "Mr. Lawrence, if you believe that, I am sorry to inform you that you are quite sorely mistaken. She needs you in her life, needs you to share your experiences with her. I am only one man and know relatively little of this world."
Edward: I sigh "Perhaps...however she has you."
Groo: I nod. "She does, forever. She still needs you, she will always need you."
Edward: "If you say so." I add "Just promise me you will make it memorable for her."
Groo: "I am sorry, I cannot."
Edward: I sigh "You are far more stubborn than she is."
Groo: I chuckle. "Luckily for me that is correct. I will only agree to to take her on one condition."
Edward: "What is that?" I ask looking away.
Groo: "That you will agree to accompany us."
Edward: I sigh "I...I just don't want to encroach on her first ever vacation."
Groo: "Mr. Lawrence, if she accepts my proposal of marriage, I believe a vacation called a honeymoon would come shortly after. We can merely postpone the trip to your homeland until after such a date," I say simply.
Edward: "You don't just get married Groo, for someone like Julie this will be an event, I know some women who plan a year or two in advance."
Groo: I nod. "I did not mean to imply that we would marry soon. It is not something I wish to rush in to. It will be the only time in my lifecycle that I will marry, it will be an event for me as well."
Edward: I chuckle "you are quite an interesting man."
Groo: I cock my eyebrow at him, giving him a puzzled look. "What do you mean?"
Edward: "Nothing..." I honestly didn't mean anything by what I said
Groo: I chuckle. "Then I shall take it as a compliment. Uninteresting people bore me."
Edward: I smile "Good it was only meant as a compliment. As for the vacation, I had hoped she could take it soon, as she deserves it."
Groo: I smile and look at him. "We may go as soon as you like, and by we I mean the three of us."
Edward: "Dear lord, you aren't letting go of that are you?"
Groo: I laugh. "I believe it was you who voiced my stubbornness."
Edward: "Yes, very well, you win."
Groo: "Excellent. Thank you, Mr. Lawrence. I must contact Faith to have her help Julie choose some luggage as well, if you will excuse me?"
Edward: I chuckle "yes, as you wish."
Groo: I stand and shake his hand, taking the ring box back from him. "Thank you, for everything."
Edward: "You are quite welcome...you also must phone her parents, don't think I have given you a blessing."
Groo: I nod. "I understand. I believe it would be more appropriate to speak with them in person, but I shall call to make an appointment."
Edward: I smile "Now go." I say "I wish to return to peaceful reading."
Groo: I chuckle. "Of course, Mr. Lawrence," I say, walking toward his door.
