Given the issues here in CA, I feel that I would rather have NOTHING than that. I know that makes no sense, but accepting benefits on their terms isn't something I want to negotiate with! I want all!

That is totally valid. I think it's wrong for them to dictate what it is we have rights to, and then smile and say "Aren't we so nice?! Look what we gave you!"

Yeah, it's like oh I'm happy but yet your not. I mean I'm happy for my uncle and my friends and everything but it still sucks how it's still not exactly equal.

Yea. I'm glad we are able to get those benefits because they are important in a purely objective sense. But there is more to it than just being awarded benefits. It becomes a political statement when you fail to make the two (marriage and domestic partnership) equal.

I agree Sam...it IS Separate but Equal. Yes, it sucks to high hell. In this case however, it was a not a "handout" to try and shut us up. It's the next attainable step on our way to full marriage rights. It might help to see this as our next defensible position because there will be a challenge to it. We dont like still being second class people.....but I will take this step forward....and defend it. ......................Michelle
