I've long had a minor fascination with a particular style of vintage postcard where part of the text is done up in very large, blocky letters which are filled with bits of scenery and such. After long subconscious percolation combined with
the posting of
a background image of the Venture Industries compound by
jacksonpublick the inspiration finally struck to build a Venture Bros.-inspired vintage postcard in the large letter style. (Many examples of the
large letter style of vintage postcard may be seen at
CardCow.com.)
The thumbnail to the right links to a very large (nearly half a megabyte, 800x500 pixels) PNG image of the finished postcard, which features the aforementioned Venture Industries compound background, as well as images of the X-1, X-2, Venture Bros. logo, and Spider-Skull Island. I rigged the copyright reference to be consistent with what I saw on
a vintage postcard I used as a loose model for my design. I also added a faux-trademark notice to "Go Team Venture" because if trademarking slogans is good enough for Microsoft, it must be good enough for Venture Industries. :)
(I suspect I will be making vintage postcards in this style on various subjects. I've already developed a good idea for a postcard based on Avatar: The Last Airbender.)
Enjoy!
