Name: Piper McLean
Age: 16
Canon: The Heroes of Olympus
Canon Point: Post-The Lost Hero
History:
Her role in The Lost Hero Piper McLean is the daughter of the Greek goddess Aphrodite and the movie star Tristan McLean. She didn't know who her mother was until she was 16, after being taken to Camp Half-Blood. Before the beginning of the book, Piper was labeled as a juvenile delinquent, frequently getting herself into trouble with the law. She was referred to as a kleptomaniac because of her penchant for stealing things, such as expensive sports cars. This wasn't exactly true, however, since she had never taken anything and instead would charmspeak people into giving them to her. After being sent to the Wilderness School and becoming friends with Leo Valdez and Jason Grace (although her memories of Jason are actually entirely false prior to The Lost Hero), they wind up being attacked by wind spirits and taken to Camp Half-Blood, the only safe place for demigods. From there, the three of them end up on a quest to free Hera from giants.
Personality: [At least 350 words]
Abilities:
Powers:
Charmspeak, minor degree of both love magic and the ability to affect clothes, makeup, jewelry
Physical Abilities: None, to specifically mention. She knows how to defend herself, and like other demigods, she is hardwired for battle. Would being very attractive be a physical ability? As a daughter of Aphrodite, she can use her looks to manipulate, too. :|
Mental Talents: Charmspeak is a manipulative ability to talk someone into doing something.
Ability Limitations: Do zombies have brains to really think? I believe that's the most important feature of charmspeak, that the creature it's being used on has a brain. Piper's ability extends to even gods and the souls of the dead (used once when Jason was killed). However, depending on the will of the person and the strength of intent, charmspeak might not even work. The effects also disappear after a few hours, leaving the person/creature that was under the effects confused as to why they did what they did. I highly doubt she will be able to charmspeak any zombies.
Weapon:
Name: Katoptris (a dagger)
Description: It is sheathed in worn, black leather, and is bound in bronze. Katoptris has a hilt made of polished wood with an 18" triangular blade made from
Celestial bronze.
Abilities/Powers: Celestial bronze is extremely powerful against gods, monsters, and demi-gods, injuring and even having the ability to kill them (in the case of monsters and demi-gods). Katoptris is also unique in that it can be used as a looking glass and show those who look into the blade more than just their reflection.
Limitations: Celestial bronze cannot be used against humans, since they aren't considered “important enough”. If a Celestial bronze weapon were to be directed at a human, it would pass through them as though it were an illusion. Otherwise, it's just a normal dagger. Sharp and pointy and good for stabbing things.
Miscellaneous Items:
I figure that these will probably be a no, but I figured I'd try anyway: a small flask of
Nectar and a small bag of
Ambrosia. Other than that, her favorite snowboarding jacket with the faux-fur hood and hiking boots.
Appearance:
Piper has long, dark brown hair that she often braids. Her eyes cycle through different colors, specifically going from brown to green to blue. She is half-Cherokee, her skin color a smooth mixture of that and white.
The PB I use for Piper is
Emily Browning.
