He already had the damned thing out, which we didn't know at the time. We figured it was just two dumbass soldiers fighting, and we'd seperate them and give them the chance to cool off.

This kid was a special kind of stupid.

He was, as I recall, not drunk enough that he should have considered that. He was speaking relatively coherently, enough so that he was trying to give his life history to that point to my buddy. My buddy, a former Army staff NCO, was not about to hear it from a young soldier fresh out of boot camp. *grins*

As for the disarming technique, it was a case of "either he's gonna drop this, or his wrist is gonna break, and then he's gonna drop it." *chuckles*
