Looking on the bright side, this opens up a route for a robot to have civil rights. The formula: arrange to have registered a corporation whose 'real-person' ownership is extremely obscure. Then one oneself is merely an asset of the company.

Voila, a way one can conveniently exist in the framework of what laws there are, enforced and unenforced, and ultimately every bit (or more) rights and political power than something made of meat. A DUNS number is better than a social security number.
