The November 2008 W Magazine cover features a photo of Angelina Jolie breastfeeding one of her twins. It was captured by Brad Pitt, who took photos of the Jolie family in their private home for one week.
I had such a hard time breastfeeding Lily. I tried everything! Unfortunately my boobs were just too big (which had never been an issue before, lol). Hopefully it'll be easier next time around since I've lost some weight. Angelina makes me jealous.
Did you have a hard time getting Lily to latch on? Every baby is different, so your next one might latch on right away. Sometimes they are stubborn. You can do it :) A lactation consultant helped me a lot, they are often at hospitals or you can find one through La Leche League.
Yeah, she was a month premature thanks to my severe preeclampsia and it just seemed like her mouth was too tiny to get a good latch. I tried everything from ointments to those little plastic shields and nothing seemed to work. My lactation consultant from the hospital just kept encouraging me to try and in the meantime I pumped. I finally gave up around 3 months. It really took it out of me. She told me the same thing though that all babies are different and my next could be a champion nurser, big boobs or not. I still feel guilty from time to time but I guess I tried my best.
I'm sorry it was so hard for you. Pumping is not easy and preemie nursing is a challenge. You guys had a good run and you really tried, so don't feel guilty. The first few months are the most important for getting breast milk, and you did that.
