So you haven't updated in a while, so I don't know when you'll see this, but in browsing through David's LJ from the last two years, I came across the startling (no, SHOCKING) fact that you have yet to read At Swim, Two Boys. I have no comprehension of anyone in his life hasn't read this yet! (Once you read it though, you won't mind his pushing it on you -- it's a masterpiece.) It pretty much defined the coaswgu as David and I know it. READ IT. (PS. I'm a bassoon. Don't know how I feel about that.)
I don't remember when that discussion happened (nor did I find a suitable search page to find it), but I own and have read a copy of "At Swim, ..." It is, as you say, quite good.
a david-coined phrase... I'm surprised you haven't heard it. Coming-of-age-story with a gay undercurrent. (he can make almost any book fit into this category.... it's amusing... and frightening.)
