I think what we're supposed to take from it is that Foreman agrees with what Chase did, or, now that it's done, there's no taking it back and Chase is right, the man will become a martyr. I think he would've burned the log book if anyone had done it, to cover up the murder itself, not the particular murderer.
And I think they're not talking about it for the same reason I wouldn't, really. I wouldn't say a word about it unless it was absolutely necessary, the more times it's spoken, the more chances it has of being heard.
