Name: Chase Stein
Fandom: Runaways (Marvel Universe)
Birthdate: December 16, 1993
Age: 18
Physical Appearance: 5'8, strongly built with messy blond hair and bright blue eyes [PB: Charlie Hunman]
Any Noteable Physical Characteristics: (i.e. scars, weird colored eyes) When your pet is a genetically modified raptor from the 83rd century, playtime can leave you with a few scars.
Education: Droped out of highschool over spring break his senior year.
Occupation: None, but as the son of mad scientists, he's handy with a toolbox.
Sexual Orientation/Preference: Straight, oh so very straight.
Significant Other: Gertrude Yorkes. Deceased.
History: Chase wasn't exactly what you would call "part of the plan" when his parents got married. A pair of (evil) mechanical geniuses, the Steins were part of a super villain collective that ran most of the West Coast, called 'The Pride' headed by five other families with varying specialties. Their endgame was to summon a race of ancient, extra dimenesional gods called the Gibborhim that would, after a certain number of innocent blood sacrafices, 'restart' reality, leaving a place in the new world only for those that had summoned them. However, when Mrs. Stein became pregnant, that plan changed. Rather than take the six places in the new world for themselves, each one of The Pride families would have a single child, and give up their places in the new world for their progengy. The truth would be kept from their children until the last sacrafice was neigh, and the time was 'right' to tell their children the truth behind the family gatherings that had been happening all of their lives. Unfortunately, like all parents, the Steins were not without their share of disapointments. While competant, Chase was far from his parent's level of natural genius, and though they loved him (as only a pair of evil geniuses could) they feared he would never be what they imagined. They could not have been more right. Chase and the other Children of The Pride were actually able to witness one of the blood sacrafices to their parents dark gods, and from there they ran away, vowing to stop them at all costs. They did, but the cost was great. Gertrude Yorkes, was killed in the last confrontation with the remaining Pride, and now all Chase and the others have left to remember her by is the girl's wayward pet velociraptor, Old Lace. Together, he and the other Children form The Runaways, the West Coasts only unofficial super team.
Personality in Seven Words or Less: Melancholy, Honest, Loyal, Responsible (sorta, almost, kinda, eh not really), Headstrong, Bold
How others Perceive Your Character: Chase wears his heart on his sleeve, under the gauntlet of his trusty Fistigons. He doesn't trust easily, but to those he does trust, he is loyal to the last. He isn't a leader, or, at least doesn't want to be one. He comes off as less a father figure and more of a really fun uncle figure. His parents literally beat it into him that he'll never be the brains of any operation, but he's more than content with with being brawn and grease monkey of the Runaways crew.
How and why did your character arrive in AV? Mucking about with one of his parent's machines got him and Old Lace stuck in AV.
Twenty-Questions for the Characters:
(In your character's voice)
1. What turns you on: A hot babe who knows how to snark.
2. What turns you off: Muscles. Though, She-Hulk's not bad...
3. Would you ever see a shrink: They tried after we blew our parents up the first time. Didn't really get anywhere.
4. Worst Childhood experience: All of it. Finding out my parents were genocidal pychopaths was only the icing on the shit cake.
5. [Complete the sentence] ... All the world's a stage... like hell. Ain't no stage to be found, man. You got this life, and that's it.
6. Favorite Song: "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen
7. Favorite Word: "Food" spend enough time scraping by and just the sound of any word starting with 'fo' makes your mouth water.
8. Least Favorite Word: "Broke"
9. Favorite Curse Word: I like fuck because it can be it's own sentence.
10. What's something that bothers you about girls? The way they can turn your heart into a fucking black hole when they leave you.
11. Sound or Noise they hate: Police sirens, and the sound adults make when they're telling me what to do.
12. Sound or Noise they love: Gert's laugh and the sound of a properly tuned engine
13. Is there something you will never forget? So not going there, man.
14. Have you ever had feelings for someone you didn't expect to? What the hell, dude? Told you, not. going. there.
15. What do you do when you're upset? Go for a walk. Sometimes, when I'm not with the others, with Old Lace...I almost feel normal.
16. Do you get jealous easily? I know it's fucked but sometimes, when I see how happy Karolina and Xavin are I wanna punch a hole in a wall. Only thing that stops me is that masonry repair is expensive.
17. Half full or half empty: Depends on the day.
18. Do you talk about your feelings or hide them? Nico's a good listener. I just wish that her default way of comforting someone wasn't to make out with them.
19. Is there a difference between love and being in love? Fuck if I had a chance to find out.
20. And, finally, if Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Screw God, as long as I get to see Gert again, nothing else'll matter

Sample RPG:
Chase Stein wasn't either of his parents. This was something he took great pride in, as only a year ago he learned that his parents--and those of all of his closest childhood friends--were part of a collective of supervillains that all but ran the entire West Coast's villanous operations. It hadn't taken much for them to decide after watching them murder an innocent girl that the psycho 'rents had to be stopped, and by some bizarre allignment of the stars and sheer force of will, they'd managed it. That was a year ago. Now, Chase Stein sat in the driver's seat of a rather outlandlish modified VW bus banging his head into the steering wheel while a concerned looking genetically altered denonycous nudged his shoulder sympathically from the back seat. Foul, odd colored smoke drifted past the open driver's side window from beneath the hood of the bus.
"Nico's going to turn me into a fish again when Victor tells her how stupid I was." He lemented, finally bringing his mildly aching head up and glancing blearily at the claw resting on his shoulder.
"No, you're right, she's probably already turned Victor into a new sewing machine for letting me be this stupid." He patted the claw gingerly. "You're always so optimistic, girl."
It had been a relatively simple idea at first: install a linked pair of The Yorkes' overdrive units into the Stein Bus, capable of a single trip fifty years into the past, just in case Gert's time traveling parents ran into them again. That was the problem with time travel--yes the Yorkes were dead now but as long as they were alive in the past there was no telling if they'd run into them again. Two overdrive units--one for the trip there, the other for the trip back.
How was Chase to know that linking them would accidentally activate them and then burn them both out upon arrival...somewhere Chase was relatively sure wasn't fifty years in the past? He was staring at the bumper of a Toyota Prius with Canadian plates, so he was pretty sure he was still in the same century.
"But on the wrong coast. Fucking great." He said wearily to himself, popping the driver's side door open and instructing Old Lace to stay put. To anyone walking by it would look as if he were just passing through and had engine trouble. An average day in what looked to be a perfectly average Canadian town. "Could be worse. Could have been sent back to dino times and met some of Old Lace's cousins."
A pause.
"Who am I kidding this bites. Where in the hell am I, anyway?"
From her place in the back seat, Old Lace seemed to be pointing towards something across the street. Glancing over, Chase saw an elaboeately carved sign, worn and damaged by more than just weather. Through the damage, he could make out delicately scolled letters stating 'Welcome to Aternaville' with a notice beneath reading 'all new and recent arrivals are urged to report to city hall for Registration."
Ice chilled through his blood. Registration was not a good word, not where he came from anyway. Granted, he wasn't a mutant, but he was a fugitive associated with mutants who had now crossed the border illegally.
"Augh, goddammit!" One metal-covered foot slammed against the front tire of the bus.
This was just not his day.
