Amazing. Cohen + 1 goodness. I love your banter and your shifting POV's giving us so much more depth than a single perspective.

Great. Thanks for sharing!

You are very kind. I'm glad the shifting POVs didn't make your head spin. (They were another reason I didn't post this before.)

Thanks for all the delightful comments. I wrote this about three and a half years ago -- and I've gotta' say, I cringe a little when I re-read it. Still, it's a Season One piece, so thought I'd throw it out there.

No plot, you say? Noticed, hmmm? Hee. A pelthora of POVs? Head spinning yet? Hee again. *shudders* Glad you enjoyed it, and that the characters and characterization worked for you. You picked up on so many points I liked about the interactions among these players -- fabulous.

Even back then, I was character rather than plot-driven, happily writing little pieces about absolutely nothing. (I still write that way, but if I were writing something like this today, I like to think I'd limit my POV, and eliminate a lot of overwriting.)

I didn't take anything you said as negative -- no worries. But the fact is I do write stories about characters, rather than plot. It's a fact, and I'm okay with it. No redo necessary -- and I actually worried that you might take my note back as if I were upset -- (I tend to overthink). And the POV comments were sweet, honest! I just don't know if I were writing the same story today that I'd write it this way -- if it's too distracting. Eh -- maybe I would. Who knows??

Loved your first comment, and the second! Cheers!

"He barely stopped himself from flinching as her fingers grazed his skin. Damn. He didn’t want her to regret her impulsive gestures. They felt like little gifts - gentle unexpected treasures. He had to learn to control his reactions - to remember that an adult could touch him without hurting. "

Loved this and Sandy watching the interaction. Loved the whole story. Thanks!

Thank you. I loved the tentative relationships back then.

Thank you! It's been languishing in my hard-drive for years as part of a half-finished story about Ryan and early classes and grades... but this chapter kind of stands on its own so I thought I'd post it.

Thanks for posting this. I too love season 1 fictions especially Cohen+1 stories. The family relationships were so much warmer during the first season and this story reflects that. Ryan, so ready, even eager to be apart of the family but also filled with apprehension. This is very nice, thanks again.

Thank you -- love early OC relationships, before Seth became uber-selfish, Ryan became an appendage or an afterthought, and the Cohens stopped parenting. (Bitter? Me?)

I adored this story. You captured the growing relationships between Ryan and the Cohens so perfectly. The lines that Zbyszko quoted were my favorite, too. As well as the one where Kirsten watched Ryan's reaction to Sandy patting him on the back.
Thanks for finally posting this. I hope that you have of these little gems hidden away for us.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting -- couldn't decide whether to post it or not, but it fit with the re-watch.
