good call on the fact that ryan says a lot more with his eyes and body language than with words.
and the insecurities about the wealthy environment and how it must have felt for Ryan.

Love the fact that Sam loves Journey. HE really has had great influence on Ryan.
The music, the sports, the architecture ... I'm curious to see how Sandy will react to that.

Jealousy and feelings of insecurites on both couples sides will probably be unavoidable.

I love Meg and Sam so, so much, and I love your writing even more. Because this is one chapter posted in three parts, I wasn't going to comment until the end, but as usual, you included such exquisite lines that I couldn't help noting some of my favorites:

I lean against the passenger window, feeling the kiss of sunrays against my face. Oh, lovely image and so reminiscent of Ryan! It's so poignant that Meg is wondering how he felt the first time he saw Newport Beach, not realizing how exactly her responses mirror his.

It’s an old, tattered, worn-out wish, but I can’t help myself. I just keep on wishing. This is such a moving metaphor. I particularly adore how you revisit it here:

Sam chuckles, “Good to hear there aren’t any leaks in the time/space continuuim.”

Too bad, I think, as my weathered wish shows another fray.

I need to see Ryan in person - talking to him without seeing him means missing entirely too much of what he says - both content and texture
