>Kanaya: Regain Sense Of Identity

[916 Bilko Boulevard, Action]

*It's very early in the morning, when all good human children should be sleeping soundly. Except that if, for whatever reason, you're walking through the halls in the dead of night, you might hear very troubled sounds from within Kanaya's room. It sounds like she's having a nightmare - an extremely vivid nightmare ( Read more... )

Nope. You're just going to have to deal with it unless you want to trade something else.

Hm. That's actually more than a little unfortunate. It's kind of unpleasant.

...It sucks, but... you just sort of get used to it.

Really? You... get used to it?

I hadn't dreamed like that in a very prodigious length of time. It was, well. I'm a bit unsettled, to tell the truth.

What is sopor? There may be a local alternative if it isn't too complicated a medicine.

I find that doubtful. It is a sedative slime native to the planet of Alternia, which we trolls use to fill our recuperacoons. If there were a similar substance I doubt it would be suitable for that intended purpose.

Well will any sedative work, or does this one have a specific function as well as sedation?

There is a specific function of the sopor that, as far as I am aware, is only relevant to our species. However, I'm a bit reluctant to just share that with a stranger.

You, too, Kanaya? But yeah, the nightmares were pretty bad last night. I'm hoping someone has something that will work like sopor...

I would really rather not experience that too many more times if I could avoid it, yes.

But it's a bit odd that we seem to have reobtained our normal forms relatively simultaneously, don't you think?

Whale, we did wash up here at about the same time. Is it reely so weird?

Oh, that's true. If it is, in fact, a question of time spent in this place then it would actually be kind of logical.

Sopor slime?

Yes, that is in fact what I said.

If you wouldn't mind going into detail of everything you know on this material, I could see about producing some for you.

Or, if you feel it's much better to explain this in person, then that is also another route you can take.

Producing some? How would you manage that, precisely? I'm afraid I don't know its exact chemical composition if that's what you're suggesting.

Dreams? It's possible to trade in for it, but...

[He wants to ask her that if she gets some, to give it to him. He's afraid of Gamzee running out and having to lose his lusus or something like that. But he doesn't ask.]

If Gamzee offers, send him my way. I told him not to share with anyone.

All right, I'll be careful not to take him up on any such proposal.

...what do you mean by "trade in"?

I went to the post office last month. I got sopor, and they made me human in exchange. What they take is random.

I'm going to try to get more as soon as I get something else back, but if I do, I'm stocking it up for Gamzee.

I see. So if I went right now, it's possible they'd remove my reason for petitioning them in the first place. That might be the quintessential definition of irony.

*There's a long pause.* Do you really think he'd behave like that once more without sopor?
