If Wesh saw this, he would start crying.

Or, actually, no. He would get quiet and sit on the edge of his hammock on ship with the letter in hand, rubbing his face, then realize that he's out to sea and there's nothing to punch and nowhere to walk until it all feels better, so he would go on deck and toss a coin in the water for her, then find somebody on ship to have sex with and once again drown out emotional pain with physical action.

Because that's what Wesh does.
