I called Anthem (my health care provider) today because I'd really like to change my meter. Ever since I was diagnosed, 13 years ago, I've used mostly an Accucheck. (I say mostly because I also have a Freestyle. But I bought that myself and I buy the strips myself. It's my backup meter. Anthem won't OK it on prescription ( Read more... )

Thanks for calling this mis-post to my attention! And thanks for the info, too. The backlighting won't matter too much to me, since I don't *usually* test when I'm in the open ocean (har har) but I'm sorry to hear that the averaging etc. isn't so useful. I'm really hoping I can download graphs and send results direct to my doctor. The insurance company won't OK anything except an Accuchek or a One Touch, so it's pretty much between the One Touch and the One touch Ultra. Looks like I'll go with the Ultra.
