Summary: Changmin is terrified of storms...I got bored so I thought I'd try a one-shot this time, it's my very first one, so sorry if it's not all that great. It's really short and mostly just fluffy stuff ^_^
Changmin awoke to the sound of thunder followed by the steady beating of raindrops against the bedroom window. He sat up in bed and looked around the bedroom he shared with Junsu and Yoochun. Both boys were still soundly asleep, unaffected by the storm outside.
A bright flash of lightning made him jump and nearly cry out, but he caught himself, knowing his bandmates would probably be annoyed if he woke them. Changmin had been terrified of storms ever since he was a young child, and only his mother had ever been able to comfort him in the midst of one.
He inched closer to the edge of his mattress, so that he was in the small pool of light created by the night light beside his bed. He was grateful for it, because darkness topped his list of fears along with thunderstorms. Another crash of thunder and he pulled the blankets tighter, drawing them up to his chin. How could everyone else sleep through this?
His entire body was trembling and he could feel his pajamas becoming damp with perspiration. Another rumble, much louder this time followed by a flash, and the night light flickered several times before going completely out, plunging him along with half of the city into absolute darkness.
Changmin let out a small yelp as he pulled the covers completely over his head. He was so terrified he felt sick to his stomach. Tears ran down his cheeks as he squeezed his eyes closed, wishing for the power to come back on and the storm to cease.
Yet another crash, loud enough to shake the apartment building, sent him flying up from his bed, almost tripping as his feet tangled with his blankets. He regained his balance and ran from the bedroom, not sure where he was going, he just didn't feel safe where he was. He didn't think there was anywhere he would feel safe.
He ran blindly down the hall with his arms outstretched in front of him so as not to run into the wall, but instead ran into something else. The something else cried out in surprise.
"What the.......Min? Is that you?"
Changmin felt soft hands touch his tear stained face, then move down to his trembling shoulders.
"Min are you crying? What's wrong?" the soothing voice asked.
"Hyung...I...I....the storm...so...so...dark..." he managed to choke out.
"You're scared?" the other one asked sympathetically.
Changmin nodded, forgetting that the apartment was in complete and total blackness and there was no way the other boy could have saw it. He felt arms envelope him and he buried his face into his friends soft fluffy hair, inhaling the scent of his shampoo, and relaxing just the slightest bit.
"Jaejoong hyung, what are you doing up so late?" he asked.
"I got up to use the bathroom. I was just trying to make my way back to bed through the darkness when I bumped into you. Min you're trembling horribly!" Jaejoong said, putting one arm around the younger boy and leading him carefully through the darkness into the living room.
He led him to the couch and gently pushed him to sit down. Kneeling in front of him, Jaejoong reached up to his face once more and wiped the boy's tears away.
"Wait here, " Jaejoong said, handing Changmin a small blanket that had been folded on the back of the couch "I will be right back."
Alone once again in the darkness, Changmin pulled the blanket close to him as another deep rumble echoed through the apartment. He squeezed his eyes tightly shut.
"Hyuuuuuuuuung!!!"
Jaejoong came running back into the room, coming from the direction of the kitchen. Changmin heard the clink of something glass being set on the small table beside the couch, followed by a clicking sound as Jaejoong flicked a lighter, using it to ignite a candle.
Another crash of thunder.
"H-H-Hy-Hyu-Hyuuung!!"
"Shhhh..." Jaejoong sat on the couch beside Changmin, pulling the trembling boy into his arms.
Changmin lay his head against Jaejoong's chest, basking in the warm glow of the candlelight, as lightning flashed again. He closed his eyes, feeling the older boy's fingers running through his hair. Jaejoong hummed softly as he smoothed Changmin's tousled mane. Changmin recognized the tune. It was one of thier songs, "I'll Be There". He found himself becoming lost in his hyung's comforting voice as his eyelids became heavy and his trembling subsided.
Thunder once again shook the dark DBSK apartment, but this time instead of his heart jumping in fear, Changmin snored softly in the safety of his hyung's arms.
Jaejoong pulled the blanket to cover both him and the sleeping Changmin. He kissed the younger boy on top of the head, leaned over, blew out the candle and drifted to sleep.
