School is approaching fast and so it practicum, which means I am getting worried.

I am wanting to know about experiences with teachers.  Who was your favourite and why?  What did they do to make them stand out from the rest?

Why my crappy summer will get better )

my favorite teachers were those who were "characters". they did not care if they were cool, they just acted like themselves.

for instance i had a teacher (actually) named hiram walker. he looked like the devil (tall, thin, dark goatee, evil looking face). he knew that everyone called him "the devil" and dressed up in red and black, with a pitchfork, on test days!

oooh! I wish I looked like the devil.

I guess that I am a "character" though. All my students last semester thought I was insane most of the time.

I've been fortunate to have a lot of stand-out teachers. one of my favorites was my high school english teacher ian mcneil. i could always tell which teachers were just collecting a cheque and which liked their job and he liked his job. He was a good speaker and also gave us some candid life advice that I still think is important about taking the odd chance in your life. and, importantly, he treated everyone without favoritism and without patronizing us.
