Very interesting. I knew he was played by a woman....didn't know that a frum man could not hear a woman sing (I love all the rules imposed on women because men supposedly have no self-control). Very interesting.
LOL, yeah, that's why I think Orthodoxy objectifies women so much more than the society they claim to be better than. Like a guy is going to get aroused because I'm wearing jeans instead of skirt or even--gasp--my running shorts.
It's the same with very orthodox muslim folks. I was at Target the other day (and this particular Target store employs a lot of Muslim women), and saw a woman with even her face covered.....Everything but her hands and eyes were covered.
Modesty is one thing....I actually appreciate modesty. And I don't mind headcoverings of any sort (I'm digging headscarves actually....my hair stays put without all sorts of contraptions). Modesty for all people isn't a bad thing....just don't force it on people!!!!!
I don't understand how those woman managed to MOVE.
I agree. Modesty can be a good thing, but it should always be a voluntary thing, and as I pointed out in a discussion on modest_style, the standards for it vary from one group to the next. Whose are "right?"
