because I'd rather admit I'm wrong than be a closed-minded bigot.

There were many things. Many people, really. Certain members of the flist (♥). My cousin, Abby. My coworker - and specifically a conversation with my coworker. It reminded me of another conversation where I was, in fact, being quite the pigheaded, bigoted buttchunk. I have no desire to be a pigheaded, bigoted buttchunk ever again, so I did it ( Read more... )

Aww, don't worry, I'm sure no one would just you just because you like a book!
I don't like Twilights at all, but some of my friends do, and that doesn't chance my opinion of them. Yes a hate it and I think it was so boring and with annoying characters, but anyone has his own opinion...I actually like to hear it what people really think of a book/movie/whatever, so I can discuss and maybe even learn something ;DD.

I know there are some who absolutely abhor Twilight and think terribly of anyone who doesn't feel the same way about it. I think that people should give things a chance, though. I guess I don't think that people should trust someone else's opinion on something like this, because their own opinion could be radically different. I decided to read it and see for myself, instead of listening to everyone who said it was terrible.

Yes! It's nice to discuss with people who have differing views sometimes. A nice change from everyone always agreeing with you and the conversation going no farther than that.

I think that those people are referring more at the crazed fangirl, more than anything else. Probably. A lot of times happened that a movie that everyone loved was a major disappointment, or the toher way around. Different people see different things, I can't blame you for liking a book :D.

It's also a nice way to see the other person opinion and tastes, I find it fun too!You can learn more also about that person, not just the matter at hand.

I remember reading Twilight and liking it. And then hating it because I realized just how much of me disliked certain aspects of it. My best friend hated it after a while because it ruined vampires for her--but that was her.

But hey, some of my most awesome friends liked it. The only thing I find irritating most of the time is when people think that I care and ask if I'm on team Edward or Jacob. I think people that hate people that like something are idiots; it's like hating someone that likes Kanjani8 or something equally as inane.

You can like something and not be persecuted for it. :) My opinion of you hasn't changed at all.

And hey, if curiosity only slightly injures the cat, at least it knows better, right? :3

Yeah, when you're engrossed in it you don't notice much of the "bad". But when you go into something prepared to dislike it, then of course you'll jump at any chance to justify your prejudgment. Is the sparkling what ruined vampires for her? Because, honestly, I thought it was absolutely hilarious in the movie. I could not stop laughing CX but I do get how it messes with the whole canonic image of vampires.

I don't care for the team thing either. Is it so bad to like both of them? AAAAH what a great way to put it! It's ridiculous for people to assume that all fans of ____ are the same and act the same way.

that is cute! And thank you (:

I don't think it was the sparkling entirely, but that was a huge part of it. /D;; We had this conversation so long ago.

Urgh, I know. I know a lot of people that are scared off of Asian music because of how some fangirls act. :| Plus they don't think it's "normal". D:

AMEN SISTER! ^^
I think you've said what almost every fan of Twilight has wanted to express when 'defending' why they like the book. It's a friggin fiction piece, take it or leave it. No biggie :P
Much ♥ for this :D

I am sad to say that I used to judge too ): But I've grown up, owned up, and realised things like that aren't a big deal.

Glad that you like Twilight bb. :') (Just dropping by to check up on how things are with the flist, and this, this was worth commenting on ♥)

I liked book (the movie less, but still tolerable), and I have nothing against people hating it, but I do have some thoughts about the latter. I think it's just a matter of fact or fiction, where Twilight is vampire fiction that we enjoy. Yes, ridiculous but enjoyable, and I admit it can't ever be based on reality, right? XD I think (I think) that's what people are looking for, a more realistic love story.

Overall, it's just preferential taste, like how I like carrots and my best friend hates them. XDDDDD (heehee)

oh, the movie, aaaahaha. I thought it was still enjoyable though they did some serious condensing of the story. Between all the music and the fact that they were whipping through the story ... it felt kind of rushed. Yeah, a more realistic love story is probably part of it. With Edward and Bella it's kinda all love & devotion, all the time.

I love carrots! ;D (giggles)

"It's not the worst thing I've ever read; it's not the best thing I've ever read."
yes, i'd say that sums it up quite nicely. :P

i read it b/c my sister had all the books so i was like "sure, why not find out what everyone is squeeling about?" but it was not the follow up to Harry Potter that i had been looking for (for me nothing can top that...... le sigh).

but now you know! ^^

I think it's going to be a very long time before we see another series as amazing and gripping as Harry Potter. It was too epic. c:
