Are you ready for this?

OK, so the landlords laughed & laughed at our pathetic offer and said we need you out by April 1. So we spent all day Sunday looking at rentals in the morning and condos for sale in the afternoon. We had just determined that we should rent for another year until we pay off some of our debt (my car will be paid off in 9 months). We get home to an ( Read more... )

Yay! You get to stay at the Freaky Tiki! I'm glad that you will have another year to plan rather than moving in April. It sounds like your landlords are confused...What's up with that? You guys are such good tenants they shouldn't be jerking you around like that.
Well,I am sure it is a relief...moving is such a huge project!

I think they actually took what we said to heart and realized they couldn't get what they wanted for it, so they decided to wait another year to see if the market picks up. From what the experts we talked to said, they were dreaming. It's just not a good time to sell. They seemed as relieved as we are.

Staying put for a year may end up costing us a little, but we don't want to make a rushed decision. Now I can concentrate on my marathon!

The really good thing for us is that we don't have to move. It's really, really bad timing for us to have to pull up stakes right now while I am training for the marathon. Yes, the landlords dicked us around, but we got the shock of realization that if we really want to buy a house, we have to get our finances and whatnot in order. We now have a lot more knowledge, a year to plan & work down our debt, and can negotiate from a stronger position in a year. I'm happy with it.

i totally get not wanting to move right away. this "3rd option" doesnt necessartily have to happen right now... well, not exactly. i swear i have my reasons for being cryptic! (furthermore, this is nothing to do with my sister ;) )

Sweetie, allow me to be totally honest here and say that today is probably the worst possible moment to pitch me a business deal. I need off the merry-go-round for a few days. We have time before I have to sign anything. I promise I will hear you out before then, but please, not today.

love you!
