The Origins of Ascended Policies 1 - Non-Interference

Jul 06, 2006 14:03

The Prime Directive is a direct result of the Ascended's Policy of Non-Interference, which in turn is a direct result of Miyela going on a philosophical binge one night after drinking entirely too much Night-Blooming Archen Tea.

Someone explain to me how it wound up on the rule books. Please.

Maybe she doesn't like the way that story was written. You can enjoy a pairing but not liking the writing.

I like Daniel/Jack. Doesn't mean every story is going to be my cup of tea, or that I won't want to read Daniel/Cameron, or Daniel/Sam every now and again.

Case in point? This wasn't even about a story, rather an advert for a pairings poll. Original entry of contention can be found here, although she has since corrected the glaring SPaG errors (And apparently deleted my comment).

I pointed out a word mis-placement and a few comma errors, but said nothing at all about the pairing.

First off, I don't believe that someone should ascribe to any single pairing. I enjoy both Sheppard/Teyla and Sheppard/Weir fics. I don't see endorsing a particular pairing as being 'anti' another pairing; everyone's entitled to their preferences. In addition, my comment had nothing to do with the pairing-tilt to your post ( ... )

....

You don't happen to know any Time Lords do you?

*Contemplates briefly*

What exactly is a time lord? I knew a man at one time who dabbled in the ebb and flow of time, but never one who called himself the master of it...

It's a group of (rather) dull people who like to sit around in robes making sure 'time' is going as they want it to, as far as I can tell. The only turly intersting Time Lord, would be the Doctor (in all his forms).

Doctor... Doctor... I have known many doctors through the years.

I have not, however, known any who called themselves 'Time Lords'. Do they, by chance, possess another name?

Sadly my peoples Non-Interference Policy had less to do with drinking and more to do with not getting their hands dirty. Unless it was to our benfit of course.

Self-serving policies seem to be a trend amongst elder races (Which the Gallifreyans seem to be, although my kind have never encountered them).

My kind evolved far from here, only migrating to the Milky Way Galaxy a few million years ago and then on to the Pegasus Galaxy before being forced to retreat from the heinous creatures the younger races named 'The Wraith.'

I have never had much head for politics, I confess. Or, rather, I can study cultures well enough, but when it comes to putting those observations into practice I tend to act first and consider afterwards.

Elder race is a fitting way to describe my race, yes.

My people evolved on the planet Gallifrey located in the constellation of Kasterborous, at galactic coordinates ten-zero-eleven-zero-zero by zero-two from galactic zero center, about 250 million light years away from Earth.

There are not many of my people left after the Time War. Our planet along with several others were destroyed in a effort to wipe out the genocidely minded Daleks. Those of us left are scattered through out time and space.

I never understood politics much myself. I'm mechanically minded really, I'd rather be working in the guts of a TARDIS.

You speak of things unfamiliar to me, but then I have been out of circulation for a few years.

Seeing as you provided galactic coordniates without a galaxy marker, does this mean you are a Milky Way Native? I was born and raised in the Pegasus Galaxy, one galaxy over from the Milky Way, but my people originated in a third galaxy all together.

I understand having a particular calling that captures your attention; while I was not a politician per se, I did voice my opinions in a rather volatile nature on occasion (On one memorable instance that resulted in my banishment to the world I currently watch over, Proculus, I acted against the will of the 'ruling' consensus. I would do it again in a heartbeat).
