I can see Neal withholding part of himself as being a barrier between Peter and Elizabeth and him.

One of my favorite parts in the series is when El goes to ask Neal to steal the tape that would cost Peter's career. It really made me realize how protective of Peter she is, especially as she reminds Neal what he owes Peter. I love OT3, but I'm convinced that while she would likely accept Neal as a lover, she'll withhold the soulmate title until he proves himself.

Oh, I really like this. El choosing to stay in bed with Peter, making Neal come to her, but still caring enough to try and get him to eat a proper breakfast... it rings really true to me.
