She must want two lines so two people can use two phones at the same time....?

Perhaps she wishes to keep her business and pleasure separate? So, say her iPhone is a personal line, but she still needs to get calls on it from time to time; when she calls back, however, she wants them getting her business self, not her personal self.

That is literally the only thing I can come up with.

Ah. She didn't say that, but that is one possibility I hadn't thought of. How does that work if one has one phone that contains two numbers, as she desired? (Is that possible?) Can you still return calls from either number?

It sounds kind of like my phone situation. I have one line, but 2 numbers with "personalized ring". So, I can tell whether someone is calling my business number or my personal number. But, whenever I call someone, it always shows up as my business number on their caller ID because that is my "main"number.
