Sounds like you are doing well. Or at least I hope I am interpreting it right. Change is good in my opinion; stagnation is a mind-killer.
As far as a fictional book... I don't know how you feel about Michael Crichton, but State of Fear is pretty entertaining so far. It's well researched and tackles the growing environment awareness issue. Also 600+ pages so hours of fun...

Graphic novels are an excellent way to enjoy the day...that way you get to appreciate both art and literature all in one! huzzah. Of course there are those that would claim the combination of the two reduce the quality of them individually...but I say "balls to that." I just read "100 Years of Solitude"...pretty good too if you haven't already read it and like magical realism.
